Regional Director, Finance (Africa) / Finance
Naomi serves as the Regional Director of Finance for Africa. In this role, she provides support and oversight to CURE Hospitals’ Finance Controllers to ensure consistency, strong internal controls, and compliance with CURE’s policies and procedures. Before joining CURE, Naomi worked with CBM – East Africa Regional Office on the Finance and Grants team where she supported various partner organizations and donors.
Naomi enjoys working at CURE because it is “a place where I can combine my faith in Christ with my work and contribute to transforming people’s lives, especially children, both physically and spiritually.” Outside of work, she likes spending time with her husband and children and serving in her church’s children’s ministry.
Controller / Finance
Kirk serves as Controller for CURE International. In this role, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of all CURE MSC financial matters and reporting. Kirk is a graduate of Spring Arbor University and worked as an accountant for a private company until he joined International Aid as a Senior Accountant. In 2009, he was promoted to Controller and has helped with the 2019 merger of CURE and International Aid. Working for CURE allows him to use his skills to serve Christ and thus fulfill a career goal.
When not working, Kirk loves spending time outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains out west with his wife, Angie, and three children, Courtnee, Caleb, and Gabrielle.
Chief of Finance and Administration / Finance
Dave Helman serves as the Chief of Finance and Administration at CURE International. In 2013, he joined CURE as the Manager of Financial Reporting, and in 2017, was promoted to the Director of Finance. In his current role, he provides oversight to the finance and technology departments and has visited each of CURE’s hospitals. Dave is passionate about the mission of CURE and has enjoyed the opportunity to serve alongside many amazing co-workers and volunteers all around the globe. Before joining CURE, Dave worked in public accounting as an auditor specializing in non-profit organizations.
Dave, his wife Laura, and their adorable dog Surrey moved to Grand Rapids, MI when CURE relocated the Mission Support Center. They enjoy playing games, visiting local coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family.
Senior Accountant / Finance
Julie serves as a Senior Accountant in CURE’s finance department, joining the organization in 2019. In this role, Julie makes domestic and international payments related to hospitals, contractors, and overseas employees. She also records and reports financial activity, reconciles accounts, and approves payroll.
Prior to coming to CURE, Julie worked at a national Big Six CPA firm, a small local CPA firm, and an international public manufacturing company. She also enjoyed many years as a stay-at-home mom and homeschooling her children. Julie is excited to combine her faith in Christ, heart for missions, and work in accounting.
Regional Internal Auditor (Africa) / Finance
Peter Ndungu Kangaru serves as the Regional Internal Auditor for Africa for CURE International. He operates out of CURE Kenya and has worked there for the last 21 years. Peter started as an accountant and transitioned to the Regional Auditor position in the summer of 2019. He holds an MBA in Finance and obtained his degree in 2018.
Peter and his wife Purity have three children: Miriam Wambui, Joy Wairimu, and Tevin Kanagru. As a family, they enjoy serving God at their church and in their praise and worship group.
Accountant / Finance
Carol serves as an accountant in CURE’s finance department and has been with the organization since 2003. A graduate of Grove City College, Carol and her husband have three children and call Harrisburg, PA, home.
