Changing Lives Since 2014

Tebow CURE has been a place of hope since opening its doors in 2014. Ours is the first and only hospital in the country to provide Christ-centered care and charitable surgeries for children with treatable disabilities.

Ara Jane | Joint Condition

Before Surgery

Ara Jane’s painful joint condition prevented her from walking normally and made her feel isolated. “Being left behind when my friends go out is one of the hardest things for me,” she said.

After Surgery

Dr. Eide Amparo

Deputy Director

Doctor Eide Amparo serves as the Deputy Director and an orthopedic surgeon at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany at the University of the Philippines Diliman and took up post-graduate Medical Education at the Davao Medical School Foundation Inc. In addition, he has undergone Clinical Observership and Training in Pediatric Orthopedics at the Primary Children’s Medical Center of the University of Utah Medical Center and Clinical training in the Ponseti Technique at the University of Iowa Medical Center. Eide is thrilled to share his knowledge and put his expertise to use at CURE Philippines and contribute to the organization’s mission. Eide is married to Addie and together they have four children: Edman, Tommy, Cheenee, and Castielle. When he is not performing hospital duties and surgeries, Eide enjoys carpentry, playing video games, and dabbling in cooking.

 

Peter Cowles

Executive Director

Peter serves as the Executive Director of CURE Philippines. In this role, he leads the overall operations of the hospital including external relationships and linkages with local pastors and churches. He has a bachelor’s degree in biological science from Cal State University Stanislaus, and a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. He has also obtained a healthcare management certificate from Cornell University.

Peter is the Founder/CEO of Seeds of Dignity Ministries, Inc., the primary local partner of CURE Philippines, and has been living in the Philippines since 2008. Previously, he worked as a missionary in Singapore and held several senior leadership roles in local government in the United States.

While not at work, Peter enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and outdoor sports. He is married to Pellen and they have four adult children and five grandchildren.

Elias S. Dacera

Spiritual Director

Elias serves as Spiritual Director at Tebow CURE, where he is responsible for leading the spiritual life at the hospital. He guides patients, families, and staff by engaging in spiritual ministry activities. 

Elias has a bachelor’s degree in classical theology from Southern Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary in Puan, Davao City. He enjoys his role at CURE because he’s able to touch the lives of his coworkers, the patients, and their family members and help them realize how much the Lord loves them.

Outside his position at CURE, Elias works as a church pastor and enjoys spending quality time with his family and playing basketball. He is married to Cherrylad and has three children, Ella Marie, Alfred Daniel, and Dave Charlie.

Lotis Galoa

Human Resource and Administrative Director

Lotis serves as the Human Resource and Administrative Director at Tebow CURE (CURE Philippines). In this role, she is committed to creating a positive workplace environment, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring organizational compliance. She has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a major in Management Accounting from the University of Mindanao in the Philippines. She is thankful for the opportunity that God has given her to use her skills and knowledge to help CURE advance its mission and take part in changing the lives of children and bringing them closer to Jesus.

Ester Gauran

Nursing Director

Ester serves as the Nursing Director at CURE Philippines. In this role, she manages services provided by the nursing department, including overseeing nursing personnel, patient care, and administrative tasks.

Ester’s experience includes working as a staff nurse, an emergency charge nurse, nursing supervisor, director, and educator in various hospitals in Saudi Arabia and Cairo, Egypt, 15 years before joining CURE. She is also an accredited trainer and assessor of caregiving skills at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the Philippines.

Ester is happy to be a part of CURE’s mission, so she can continue her ministry in glorifying God by serving children with disabilities.

Romel Rudyard Lucentales

Facilities Director

Romel serves as the Facilities Director for CURE Philippines. In this role, he oversees the engineering and maintenance functions of the hospital. Romel is an electronics engineering graduate from Ateneo de Davao University. He has worked outside of Davao at petroleum and energy companies acquiring experience in construction and maintenance.

Back in his hometown of Davao, Romel (Mel) prayed to be able to apply his engineering knowledge and skills to benefit people’s lives. Working for CURE allows him to do that every day and has been an answer to prayer. Outside of work, Mel loves to spend time with his wife, Glenda, and son, Rome Gabriel.

Anamy Simbajon

Finance Director

Anamy serves as the Finance Director at CURE Philippines. Her role involves producing financial reports, developing long-term plans for the sustainability of the hospital, and monitoring the hospital’s budget. She has previous experience in auditing and accounting which serves her well in her current role.

Outside of work, Anamy enjoys spending time fishing and swimming with her family, Mikaela and Uzziah, and her brothers.

Dr. Orlando Basilio Jr.

Medical Director

Dr. Orlando Basilio Jr. serves as the Medical Director at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. He earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Major in Hospital Administration at the University of Visayas in 2014. He completed various fellowships in Philippine Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Philippine College of Surgeons, and Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons. Furthermore, he attended The International Leadership Development Program for Physicians at Harvard T.H. CHAN Schools of Public Health in 2019. Doctor Basilio has been involved in several medical missions in the past and he is happy to be part of CURE Philippines’ mission of serving the underserved Filipino children.

He is married to Susan, who works as an OB-GYN, and they have a child, Andrea who is also a medical student.

Dr. Dino Buenaventura

Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon

As a plastic surgeon at CURE Philippines, Dino evaluates cleft patients and performs cleft lip and palate surgeries—counting it a blessing to be part of helping transform the lives of vulnerable children. He completed his MD, a post graduate internship, and his residency in general surgery at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. He completed a fellowship in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

In his spare time, he plays the piano and saxophone, reads books, rides motorcycles, and enjoys golf and basketball.

Dr. Elsa Calvez

Orthopedic Surgeon

Doctor Elsa Calvez serves as an orthopedic surgeon at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. She studied medicine at the Xavier University Dr. Jose P. Rizal School of Medicine and completed her post-graduate internship at the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Incorporated. Prior to serving with Tebow CURE, she was a Pediatric Orthopedic Fellow at the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital Sandy Bay in Hong Kong. Elsa’s passion for pediatric orthopedics has led her to serve with CURE and she is happy to be a part of the transformative work that God is doing in the hospital.

In her free time, Elsa loves to read novels and go sightseeing.

Dr. James Paul B. Dumdum

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. James serves as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Tebow CURE. In addition to his bachelor’s in nursing from San Pedro College of Davao and doctor of medicine degree from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, he completed general surgery training at Davao Regional Hospital and plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. James, who started at CURE in September 2023, is a consultant in the Department of Surgery at Davao Regional Medical Center. He also teaches anatomy and surgery at the University of Southeastern Philippines School of Medicine.

In his role at Tebow CURE, Dr. James enjoys helping to remove the social stigma found in cleft lip and palate patients. He loves improving patients’ confidence, allowing them to interact socially better.

When he’s not helping correct kids’ smiles, Dr. James likes spending time with his family, reading books, and traveling. He’s a self-professed cinephile, and he especially enjoys documentaries.

Dr. James is happily married to Cheyenne, and they have two lovely daughters—Jaan Therese and Justine Trisha.

Dr. Maria Delos Reyes

Pediatrician

Dr. Delos Reyes is a pediatrician at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital of the Philippines, providing medical care to patients, preparing them to receive life-changing surgical care they need, and advising the surgical team.

Dr. Delos Reyes received a BS in Medical Technology from San Pedro College of Davao. She received a Doctor of Medicine at Davao Medical School Foundation and completed her residency at Brokenshire Medical Center’s pediatrics department (formerly Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries).

She is passionate about helping children and seeing the impact on a family (and their smiles!) when a child receives the specialty care they need to live a full, productive life. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys time with family and friends, dance lessons, and relaxing at the beach. She is married to Ryan.

Dr. Micah Tan

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Micah Tan is an orthopedic surgeon at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. He earned his medical degree at Davao Medical School Foundation. He had his training in orthopedic surgery at Southern Philippines Medical Center. He has a special interest in pediatric orthopedics and congenital deformities. For this reason, he is happy to be part of the CURE Philippines pediatric orthopedic team.

Dr. Micah is married to Marianne and they have three children, Aleph, Bet and Gimelle.

Dr. Shera Lim Elfante

Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. Shera Lim Elefante is an Otolaryngology (head and neck) and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital in the Philippines. She earned her medical degree at Davao Medical School Foundation. She had her training in otolaryngology at Southern Philippines Medical Center, a tertiary government hospital which helps treat the least, lost, and last in the community.

Dr. Shera is also part of the AFP Reserve Task force, ranked as a Medical Corps Major, and aids them during medical missions. She has a special interest in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. She is passionate about treating cleft conditions and loves being part of the team that performs life-changing surgeries for the most vulnerable.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, yoga, meditation, and playing with her three pugs named Peanut, Butter, and Jelly.

Dr. Dino Buenaventura

Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon

As a plastic surgeon at CURE Philippines, Dino evaluates cleft patients and performs cleft lip and palate surgeries—counting it a blessing to be part of helping transform the lives of vulnerable children. He completed his MD, a post graduate internship, and his residency in general surgery at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. He completed a fellowship in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

In his spare time, he plays the piano and saxophone, reads books, rides motorcycles, and enjoys golf and basketball.

Dr. Elsa Calvez

Orthopedic Surgeon

Doctor Elsa Calvez serves as an orthopedic surgeon at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. She studied medicine at the Xavier University Dr. Jose P. Rizal School of Medicine and completed her post-graduate internship at the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Incorporated. Prior to serving with Tebow CURE, she was a Pediatric Orthopedic Fellow at the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital Sandy Bay in Hong Kong. Elsa’s passion for pediatric orthopedics has led her to serve with CURE and she is happy to be a part of the transformative work that God is doing in the hospital.

In her free time, Elsa loves to read novels and go sightseeing.

Dr. James Paul B. Dumdum

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. James serves as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Tebow CURE. In addition to his bachelor’s in nursing from San Pedro College of Davao and doctor of medicine degree from Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, he completed general surgery training at Davao Regional Hospital and plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. James, who started at CURE in September 2023, is a consultant in the Department of Surgery at Davao Regional Medical Center. He also teaches anatomy and surgery at the University of Southeastern Philippines School of Medicine.

In his role at Tebow CURE, Dr. James enjoys helping to remove the social stigma found in cleft lip and palate patients. He loves improving patients’ confidence, allowing them to interact socially better.

When he’s not helping correct kids’ smiles, Dr. James likes spending time with his family, reading books, and traveling. He’s a self-professed cinephile, and he especially enjoys documentaries.

Dr. James is happily married to Cheyenne, and they have two lovely daughters—Jaan Therese and Justine Trisha.

Dr. Maria Delos Reyes

Pediatrician

Dr. Delos Reyes is a pediatrician at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital of the Philippines, providing medical care to patients, preparing them to receive life-changing surgical care they need, and advising the surgical team.

Dr. Delos Reyes received a BS in Medical Technology from San Pedro College of Davao. She received a Doctor of Medicine at Davao Medical School Foundation and completed her residency at Brokenshire Medical Center’s pediatrics department (formerly Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries).

She is passionate about helping children and seeing the impact on a family (and their smiles!) when a child receives the specialty care they need to live a full, productive life. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys time with family and friends, dance lessons, and relaxing at the beach. She is married to Ryan.

Dr. Micah Tan

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Micah Tan is an orthopedic surgeon at the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. He earned his medical degree at Davao Medical School Foundation. He had his training in orthopedic surgery at Southern Philippines Medical Center. He has a special interest in pediatric orthopedics and congenital deformities. For this reason, he is happy to be part of the CURE Philippines pediatric orthopedic team.

Dr. Micah is married to Marianne and they have three children, Aleph, Bet and Gimelle.

Dr. Shera Lim Elfante

Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. Shera Lim Elefante is an Otolaryngology (head and neck) and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital in the Philippines. She earned her medical degree at Davao Medical School Foundation. She had her training in otolaryngology at Southern Philippines Medical Center, a tertiary government hospital which helps treat the least, lost, and last in the community.

Dr. Shera is also part of the AFP Reserve Task force, ranked as a Medical Corps Major, and aids them during medical missions. She has a special interest in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. She is passionate about treating cleft conditions and loves being part of the team that performs life-changing surgeries for the most vulnerable.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, yoga, meditation, and playing with her three pugs named Peanut, Butter, and Jelly.
