The new, state-of-the-art facility at CURE Ethiopia will help the hospital accommodate up to 5,000 patients annually.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – September 20, 2024: CURE International, a global Christian nonprofit organization that operates a network of eight charitable pediatric hospitals around the world to serve children with treatable disabilities, has broken ground on the largest hospital expansion project in its 25-year history: a 22,000 sq. ft, three-floor, state-of-the-art facility to house an Outpatient Department, Surgical Center, and Patient Ward where 5 operating rooms, 7 exam rooms, and 22 patient beds will allow the facility to serve 5,000 patients annually.
The total investment in this project is $12.5 million with The Rees-Jones Foundation generously providing funding to construct and furnish the facility and USAID supplying medical equipment.

In anticipation of future growth, the foundation of the three-story building is designed to support two additional floors, which would allow 15,000 sq. ft for new patient recovery rooms.

The new facility is scheduled to open its doors to children in 2026.
