Grand Rapids, MI, USA – August 2, 2022: CURE International announces that its world-class medical professionals completed 14,333 pediatric surgical procedures during the fiscal year 2022 – the most completed in a single year in the organization’s 26-year history.
The Christian nonprofit organization, which operates a global network of eight pediatric hospitals across Africa and the Philippines, greatly surpassed its annual goal of completing 12,000 life-changing surgical procedures to help children in need.
CURE International specializes in the surgical treatment of children who suffer from neurological, orthopedic, and reconstructive conditions that if left uncared for become permanent disabilities. The organization’s hospitals play an integral role in strengthening the healthcare systems of host countries, serving as a training ground for local physicians in residency, and offering formal fellowships in pediatric orthopedics.
The completion of 14,333 pediatric surgeries marks a 50% increase from the previous year. Although the COVID-19 pandemic made healthcare more challenging, CURE’s children’s hospitals never closed their doors to children in need and continued operating throughout the crisis. The addition of seven surgeons and the expansion of a new hospital to the network helped to drive this remarkable growth in access to care.
“This accomplishment is shared with our donors, partners, and 1,000 colleagues who come to CURE every day to serve with compassion and excellence,” said Justin Narducci, President & CEO of CURE International. “Though we are celebrating this success, we don’t see patients as statistics – we believe each one of these children is loved by Christ and is worthy of the best care.”
