"Hassan is being given medicine and is slowly recovering from his chest infection," Mariam told us. His chest is now clearing and will have his surgery after he has fully recovered. "First, I was really unhappy when they told me that his surgery was canceled but when they explained to me, I was grateful for the decision they made," Mariam went on. Hassan will continue to be closely monitored and will proceed with his medication as prescribed by the doctor. Please continue praying and believing God for healing so that Hassan can have his surgery.
Sheila is having a peaceful rest after an unfortunately sleepless night, "She kept me up all night. She was crying and I didn't even know what to do," Brenda spoke with heavy eyelids. "The bedside nurse was very helpful though. She gave medicine that helped relieve Sheila's pain and she eventually slept," Brenda added. While Sheila has been in the operating room yesterday, Brenda had been so worried she chose to go to the chapel to pray and worship. "I couldn't stand. My knees became feeble. I had to sit. I prayed so hard for my girl to come back alive," she narrated. After the surgery, Shelia was taken to the ICU where she spent the night before being brought back to the ward. "I do not know how to repay CURE for their love and support. I am very happy. In fact, so happy that I can't speak," Brenda expressed with such great joy. Thank you for making this possible!

Jeremiah came back for his review as he was supposed to and he got to go straight into surgery! After surgery, his father's friend Emmanuel was looking after him since dad Gabriel had to go to work. "Anything for my friend, besides, even Jeremiah loves me a lot," Emmanuel told us. We are so thankful for the community surrounding Jeremiah who are all pitching in to make sure he got the surgery he needed. And he did get it!
Dr Simon from The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) prepared Sheila for her first surgery. As before all surgeries, we prayed and put the whole operation in the hands of God, speaking healing upon Shelia's life. Meanwhile, we met Brenda in the chapel praising and worshiping God. She was quick to ask how her daughter was. "I really hope she is fine. I am worried about her," Brenda told us. We encouraged her and told her everything was fine and her daughter would be out in no time. "I am here praying and believing God for that," she agreed. Our surgeons will attempt to create a pathway for the excess water to drain, a procedure pioneered in our facility. We ask you to pray for Sheila and he mother as they go on this journey.
Dr Simon gently put Hassan to sleep in the operation room before surgery today. Shortly after, the team decided that the operation couldn't be done because Hassan had cough and this was dangerous as it could lead to infection. Meanwhile, his mother waited for him outside. It was explained to her what had happened and she had peace about their decision. Safety is our main focus in every procedure. We will treat Hassan when his chest is clear. We ask for your prayers as Hassan continues his healing journey.
