Dawit is an active young boy who was born with a condition called a bow leg. It's where his leg bends outward making it hard for him to walk as well as making him a target for the other kids to make fun of. He has been to other hospitals before, but none have been able to help him. In a sense, he is lucky as only his left leg is bowed. Most children with bow legs have bowing in both legs. But where Dawit is really blessed is, when he started school a year ago, one of his teachers told him about what we do here at CURE Ethiopia. This teacher shared the hope of healing with Dawit and now Dawit is here with us getting ready for surgery! Join us in welcoming Dawit as he starts his healing journey!
Dawit swung back by for a check up and is doing pretty well all things considered. He's not too big of a fan of not being able to walk, but he's making the best of it. His mom is also a super hero ,carrying him around and doing everything she can to facilitate his healing! Dawit had his cast removed and a new one put on which he'll keep for a bit longer. Please keep praying for this lil' guy that he'll be up and on his own feet soon!
Dawit has had a little time to recover and he's doing great. He's mostly excited that he gets to eat breakfast again! After the doctors checked on him, he was discharged and will be heading home! He'll swing back by CURE Ethiopia in September for a check up to see how his leg is healing and we can't wait to see him again.
Dr. Teddy did a wonderful job straightening out Dawit’s leg. To keep it in its newly straight position, Dr. Teddy also inserted a pin in the lower part of Dawit's left leg. Dawit is back in the ward resting with his new cast on. Keep on praying for this young guy!
Dawit is hanging out here at CURE Ethiopia getting ready for his surgery! He claims he's not at all scared, but he is kind of annoyed he can't have any breakfast (patients aren't allowed to eat for about 12 hours before they go to surgery or they could risk complications with the anesthesia). Please join us in both welcoming Dawit and praying for him as he sets out on this journey with us!
