“My favorite subject is math and I want to work in a bank when I grow up!” proclaims Yetbarek!

Yetbarek is a youngest of four children, two brothers and a sister. He has come to CURE Ethiopia with his mother Tigist, seeking help for a broken leg that has healed very very wrong. Yetbarek loves playing soccer and six years ago, he was doing just this with his friends. Accidentally, he tripped and broke his tibia, one of the bones beneath your knee. His family first took him to a traditional healer. When this didn't result in any discernable help, they began looking for medical alternatives with not much luck. Thankfully, an old patients of ours here at CURE Ethiopia eventually met Yetbarek and was able to tell Yetbarek about the work we do here. Yetbarek has now made the long journey to us.

As mentioned, Yetbarek loves both math and soccer, but his ability to practice both has been inhibited by his condition over the past few years. Yetbarek is looking forward to be healed so he can start school again as well as play soccer with his friends once more. Join us welcoming Yetbarek while he starts his healing journey!

Everyone wants to get the prize so everyone stays very quiet and attentive during story time. Well today, Yetbarek was the winner! We're proud of this smart young man and his knack for both listening and remembering! Photo of Yetbarek

Yetbarek's has had his surgery and is resting up now. Dr. Tewodros and Dr. Tekalegn did a wonderful job starting the straightening process. They installed a frame around Yetbarek leg which he will have to wear for the next couple of months. It will slowly straighten out his leg with regular adjustments. He is doing well and please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery and determination for the coming months! Photo of Yetbarek
