About Misheck
Misheck can keep up with the best of them. He can walk and play soccer with his neighbors and seven siblings without too much trouble. Even so, Mischeck’s leg hasn’t grown normally. When he was nine months old, his mother Justina noticed that his knee was coming out oddly. In September 2012, she took her son to one of CURE’s mobile clinics in Ndola and found out that he had a genu varus left leg, otherwise known as a bowed leg.
He's scheduled to be admitted here on October 8 and receive surgery the next day. An osteotomy will be done where a piece of bone is cut out in order to move the leg into a straight position. When he is all healed up, he will have a brand-new, straight leg.
Most kids being admitted to the hospital explain that they want to become a teacher or doctor when they grow up, but Misheck has different dreams. Justina explained that he has a knack for fixing things. He is interested in everything mechanical and has helped his family by fixing lights, radios, and even navigating through wires. He wants to work for an electric company one day, and I have every belief that he will. Can’t wait for this guy to come to our hospital!

Thursday November 22, 2012- Day 50Misheck's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 01/16/2013 - Misheck came and had his cast removed yesterday. The bone is all healed up! By the time he comes back for review in January, it will seem as if he never had a bowed leg!
Thursday November 22, 2012 - Day 48Misheck's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 11/21/2012 - Misheck never made it to his follow-up appointment yesterday. Let's hope he comes to the next ortho clinic this week.
