About Kimberly
As much personality as all of the children who come to CURE have, eight-year-old Kimberly Machanda by-far has the most. This feisty little girl isn’t shy in the least, and is very upfront about her dreams of becoming a model, something she was concerned she wouldn’t be able to pursue because of the Blount’s disease in her left leg. Kimberly was born with no trouble, but when she began to walk, her mom, Jessica, realized a bowing of her left leg. She had surgery in Zimbabwe, as that is where the family lives, but the surgery failed. Jessica joined an online group for parents of children with Blount’s and that is how she found out about CURE. They took the long bus trip to Blantyre, Malawi and in a matter of days Kimberly’s leg was on the mend. With that newly straight leg, Kimberly may achieve her career dreams after all!

JSON RSS- Day 49 Since Kim lives in Zimbabwe, she's not going to come back to the hospital to have her cast taken off. We talked to her mom and she told us that Kim will have her cast off this week, by a doctor they were referred to by one of our surgeons. She said she would send us pictures when it's all done!
