Morgan lives in Kenya and has clubfoot, and in Kenya the sort of specialty medical care Morgan needs is scarce. There are 100 million children in the world just like Morgan who have little hope for the future.
Many can't play with their friends or go to school, and when Morgan grows up, things that we hope for like marriage or finding a job will be difficult or impossible...all because Morgan has a curable disability! But you can change Morgan's life forever.
You can help

Another child like Morgan Inijiru Orato needs her opportunity for life-changing care. You can help make that possible right now.

About Morgan

Morgan was born with what his mother, Faith, described as crooked legs. Unknown to her, her son also had another condition known as spina bifida. Her initial reaction was shock - “I had never seen anything like it before.” Unfortunately the health center where he was born had no medical background in his condition and discharged her and Morgan without a clue of what to do next. When they got home, his father, Simon, relentlessly began to seek advice, and in his search, he was referred to a clinic where his son’s casting could be done. Morgan immediately began his castings.

Morgan’s parent’s did not see any change in their son’s condition, but they continued to take him to the hospital, believing that the doctors knew best. Then after several unfortunate events, both Simon and Faith became jobless. So they discontinued the treatment. That was the time when Morgan was trying to learn how to crawl. In his parents' ignorance of the full extent of Morgan's condition, he began to hurt his feet as he attempted to walk. Due to the spina bifida, he could not feel the pain he was causing his body in trying to walk. He ended up losing toes on his right foot.

It seems Faith and Simon have hit some hard times. I could see the stress in Faith’s eyes as she thought about the surgery and what that would mean to their meager resources. Morgan is scheduled for surgery in November, to correct his clubfeet, so that when he attempts to learn how to walk again, it will not be with the same effects the first attempt had. Please continue to pray for Morgan and his family and they prepare for their journey with CURE.

  1. Day 239And the wound on his right leg is healing up very well :-). Our Dr. Mbugua, who saw them was very happy with his parents and how well they were taking care of him, because with most children who have Spina Bifida, like Morgan, the wounds take forever to heal. We will see him again during the next clinic in Nakuru and hopefully by then he will be ready to get booked for corrective surgery to his right leg.
  2. Day 239The left foot is doing well
  3. Day 203I had a ball with Morgan yesterday when he came for his follow up, we had a little photo shoot as his father concentrated on what the doctors were saying about his condition and how he was progressing. Things are looking good, the wound he has had for the longest time on his right leg is now almost completely healed up, and his left leg which was corrected is also looking good. We will of course continue to follow him up just to ensure that the rest of the healing goes as planned. http://bit.ly/YyMB2n
