About Mihret

Mihret, whose name means "mercy" loves to jump rope. That's an interesting hobby for someone who struggles with a condition like hers. She has never been able to walk properly on her left foot because it is bent upward, making her walk on her tip toes.

Mihret''s father is a guard, and her mother makes injera (an Ethiopian staple) at a local university. She has 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mihret is in the 4th grade, and she hopes to return to school as soon as she is done healing from her surgery. She hopes to study hard to become a doctor.

Her attitude, like most of the CUREkids is so inspiring. She says, "God made me the way I am." When other kids call her "limping kid" or other rude names, she simply replies, "God can make you like this too." I think that's funny. She's fiesty which makes her even more endearing. Her parents are very loving and have taught their daughter to accept her condition, but now that there is a chance for healing they are all extremely excited.
