Hospital CEO and trained nurse to add industry experience to the Board
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – February 5, 2024: CURE International, a Christian global nonprofit organization based in Grand Rapids, MI, that operates a global network of eight charitable pediatric hospitals around the world, announces that Sharon Almeida has joined its Board of Directors.
“I have long supported this organization’s unique emphasis on treating the whole person – physically and spiritually – and look forward to adding my experience to further expand this outstanding organization’s global impact,” said Sharon Almeida.
Almeida immigrated from India as a young girl to work in her family’s motel. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis in hospital leadership from Grand Canyon University. As a Registered Nurse, she quickly rose through the ranks as a Clinical Manager and later Program Director of two West Valley region Banner Health Inpatient Rehabilitation programs.
In 2020, she was named CEO of Banner Rehabilitation Hospital (West) in Phoenix, AZ, one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report. Sharon and her husband, Cliff, have two young daughters.
“After many years of supporting CURE’s mission as a donor, I am grateful that Sharon will share her extensive experience in hospital leadership with the CURE International Board of Directors,” said Chairman of the Board Jerry Tubergen.
