About the Hospital
CURE Malawi is a 58-bed teaching hospital that specializes in treating the orthopedic needs of children and adults. The facility was opened in 2002 and serves children with physical disabilities regardless of their ethnic background or religious affiliation.
The hospital also has special expertise in total hip and knee replacement surgery, making it one of the few places where this surgery is available in Sub-Saharan Africa. The hospital treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions including clubfoot, burn contractures, osteomyelitis, and other acquired or congenital conditions. In addition, CURE Malawi also provides physiotherapy services.
The Beit Trust, a UK-based charity, provided support for the construction of the hospital as a gift to the people of Malawi. Thanks to its ability to meet a wide variety of needs for both children and adults, CURE Malawi is a unique and valuable asset to Sub-Saharan Africa.
Orthopedic Clinical Officer Training
CURE Malawi maintains an orthopedic clinical officer training program. This program trains nurses to work as orthopedic physician extenders to serve outlying areas. The hospital also conducts monthly mobile clinics to identify children in remote areas who can be treated at the hospital and to provide follow-up care to those who have received surgery.
Beit CURE Family Medicine Clinic
Providing private care for children and adults, the Family Medicine Clinic operates within the Beit CURE Hospital and accepts MASM insurance, as well as cash payment. Proceeds go to support pediatric orthopedic services at Beit CURE Hospital. Staffed by doctors from the UK and the Netherlands, the Clinic covers all aspects of family medicine, including tropical medicine, reproductive health, mental health, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, men’s health, and minor surgery. Consultations are strictly by appointment only. Clinic hours are Mon-Fri, 800-1100 hrs and 1300-1530 hrs. Call +265 01 871 900 / +265 0212 871 900 or visit curehospital.mw to find out more.

Smile Train
Since the fall of 2006, in collaboration with Smile Train, CURE has developed cleft lip and cleft palate surgical training programs in most of CURE’s hospitals worldwide. These programs not only provide surgery for children and counseling for them and their families, but also train national surgeons in reconstructive surgery.
