Tuesday has become new cast day for Leslie! Although she'd rather do just about anything else on this day, she visited the procedure room to have her casts changed. After a few weeks of casting, when her feet are much straighter, she will head to the theatre to have her first procedure. To help her get through the day, we paint her casts once they are dry to brighten her day and her mood! We like to write some verses or messages on her casts, so please send us a message or Bible verse you'd like to have us paint on her casts!
The weekend was long and the recovery process was slow for Portia. She had some discomfort but her mother stayed by her side and the nurses helped her feel as comfortable as possible. A few visitors from Bulawayo Baptist Church came to see the patients in the ward. A couple stopped by to share a Bible story and color with Portia. She sat up on her bed and helped choose the colors to fill the page in. The visitors prayed with Portia to recover quickly so she can finish coloring the page herself! Please keep Portia in your prayers as she goes for a bandage change this week in the OR.
Marshall went into the operating theatre to have the burn contractures on his right arm and chest released. Dr. Andrew from Tebow CURE in the Philippines, alongside Dr. Rick, went to work on Marshall's arm and chest, which came out successfully! They released the contractures and did a skin graft to help the healing process. He is back in the ward asleep but has been complaining about discomfort. Please keep him in prayer as he recovers from surgery.
It's been a great week for Tanaka at CURE Zimbabwe! She had her casts taken off and was super excited to feel the ground with her feet! Her measurements were taken for AFOs (ankle-foot-orthoses) which she will receive in the next few days. These will help her keep her feet straight as she learns to get back on her feet again. Here is a video of her walking in the procedure room with a big smile on her face! Her mom was also very pleased with the progress she has made! https://youtu.be/jPsAfn9oxHk
Meet Marshall! He is at CURE Zimbabwe with his father Jotum for corrective surgery. When he was three, he accidentally knocked a pot of boiling beans on himself and burned his right arm. He now has two major burn contractures on his arm and his chest. Marshall needs help to do things like getting dressed, as his father is doing here. Marshall will go into the OR today for surgery, and his family is excited to finally find corrective treatment for him. Please help us welcome him and pray for his procedure today.
