What am I giving to?

CURE in Zimbabwe

The picture above is of CURE in Zimbabwe. Everyone who serves with CURE in Zimbabwe, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Sean. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Sean. When you give a gift through Sean's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Zimbabwe. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Sean. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“It has been hard since the accident, but my friends have been supportive,” Sean said with a sadness in his eyes. He still has scars on his face from when he was hit by a car on his way home from school four months ago.

The accident left Sean with a broken shin bone in his right leg. He was taken to a local hospital where his leg was put in a cast for six weeks. When the cast was removed there was still a slight unnatural curve in his leg. The bone was broken close to his foot and didn’t heal properly while it was in the cast. Sean was put on crutches inevitably, and after several checkups was finally informed that he may never walk without his crutches. His aunt Beverly grew concerned that he would never be able to doing the things he loves, like playing soccer.

Since the accident, Sean has not been able to run or play soccer with his friends. A broken bone in his leg could cause Sean complications as he continues growing, inhibiting him from living life like a normal teenager. Thankfully, Sean and Beverly met Dr. Msasanure, CURE surgeon, at one of Sean’s at the local hospital. Dr. Msasanure told them about what we do here at CURE Children’s Hospital of Zimbabwe. With surgery, Sean’s leg will be restored and allow him to get back on his feet!

Thank you for your prayers! Sean is now recovering well, though he struggled a little bit throughout the night. He experienced some post-op swelling, so the doctor cut his cast open making room for that. The nurses are taking care of him in the ward, and he is feeling better today. Photo of Sean
