“Her condition was a surprise to the family because it was the first time for us witnessing such a case in the family,“ shares Dyvas, Abigail's father.

Abigail comes from the southern part of the country and was born in a polygamous family, her father is married to two women, Abigail's mother is his first wife, she could not could not come with her to the hospital because she is taking care of Abigail’s younger sister who is a few months old.

Abigail is three years old and the 5th born on her mother's side with one young sister, she has three other siblings from the second wife, all together they are a family of nine. She was born with arthrogryposis, a condition which came as a surprise to the family.

“When she was two months old they referred us to the University Teaching Hospital. They told us the newborns are still soft, we should go back after a year. We took her back to University Teaching Hospital as earlier advised, they referred her to CURE Zambia in 2016 and we were told to bring her in 2018 for treatment but I did not have transport money hence the day in bringing her here,” recounts Dyvas.

Abigail manages to play with her friends though her growth rate does not correlate with her age. Her brother whom she is age mates with has grown to the extent that he is able to carry her. Thankfully, there is a missionary who setup a school in their village and is the one who assisted them to come here to begin Abigail's treatment! Please join us in praying for her healing as we minister to her and her family!
