What am I giving to?

CURE in Uganda

The picture above is of CURE in Uganda. Everyone who serves with CURE in Uganda, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Resty. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Resty. When you give a gift through Resty's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Uganda. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Resty. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"I gave birth to Resty normally, she looked beautiful." Brenda reminisced. Not long after birth, Brenda was shocked with the number of times she visited the hospital. "Resty was always sickly, I took her to several hospitals for where I was told that she was perfectly normal." Resty's head grew bigger prompting her mother to desperately seek for help. She finally went to one which found that little Resty had Hydrocephalus, a condition where the body produces excess fluid around the brain causing the head to grow big. The hospital referred her to CURE Uganda. There was a challenge though, "I did not have the money to bring her to the hospital, so I stayed home hoping that one day a miracle would happen" Brenda said. Abandoned by her husband and a sick child, Brenda was depressed and hopeless. News of a child with a big head spread around the village. It soon reached a charity organization that was operating in a Refugee Camp next to where Brenda lives. They offered to help. "Just to be clear, I am not a refugee but this organization provided an ambulance to bring me and my child, that alone could have been enough." Brenda spoke with a grateful voice. "When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and I have high hopes that everything is going to be fine," Brenda added. Please welcome Brenda and Resty to the CURE family, pray and encourage them as they begin their healing journey!

Praise God! Today, Resty has been discharged, and Brenda is so excited to go home! "I thank God so much and for the love and care of the CURE staff and for the prayers of the donors. It's great to know that there are people around the world that care and are praying for us." Brenda spoke with a rather overwhelmed voice. "We are so happy that the ETV is working, and we cant wait to see them when they return for a review," Jill, our nurse affirmed. Please continue praying for them as they stay home and to bring them back safe for a review. Photo of Resty

Brenda is feeding little Resty in the ICU, where she with be closely monitored for a while before she is taken to the general ward for the rest of her recovery. "I am so happy that my daughter made it out of the operating room safe," Brenda said while gently wiping the milk on little Resty's lips. The ETV was successful in creating a pathway for the water around Resty's brain. "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."- Jeremiah 29:12. Let's continue calling unto the Lord to bring forth healing upon little Resty and for strength unto Brenda as they go through to full recovery. Photo of Resty

Baby Resty was today taken to the operating room where our surgeons performed the ETV, a treatment for hydrocephalus where a pathway for the water around the head is created. Before the session, our medical team prayed, putting everything in the hands of God. "I am strong and I know that my daughter will be fine. God is good, all the time," Brenda spoke with confidence. Please continue to pray for baby Resty and keep those messages of encouragement coming. Photo of Resty

Dr Humphrey checked on baby Resty during the routine ward rounds today. "Dr. told me that there's a lot of water in my daughter's head and needs to be drained." Brenda seemed puzzled, "But I am excited and have confidence that I am at the right place and my daughter is going to be fine." Brenda concluded excitedly. Irrigation, (getting rid of the water) in Resty's head will help reduce the pressure on her brain. This is the first step toward her healing journey. We invite you to pray and encourage them by sending a Get Well Message as they start this journey! Photo of Resty
