“When I saw the back I didn’t think she would be fine,” said Catherine. She did not give up on Britney. Catherine knew Britney needed treatment and took her to the Mulago National Referral Hospital where Britney had surgery to close her back. Britney’s spina bifida was treated however, Catherine noticed her daughter's head expanding and planned on taking her back to Mulago. “There is a certain lady who met me in Kampala and saw the baby and told me to go to CURE Hospital because they specialize in those cases,” said Catherine. “It is good here because you fit in, it is not like outside when you are alone in the community,” said Catherine about being with other families at CURE Uganda who are facing the same challenges. Britney is Catherine’s fourth child, her first born is eight years old and all her kids love Britney but don’t know the severity of her sickness. While Britney is in the hospital her older siblings are staying with her aunt. Catherine has been praying for Britney to be well and for her to be able to walk. Catherine would like Britney to grow up to be a doctor after the experiences they have gone through with Britney’s illness. Please join us in praying for Britney's healing!
“Britney is going back today,” said a happy Catherine. This morning during the ward round Catherine was told they could go home she had some concerns about the surgical site but they assured her the stitches were okay. “Britney is totally fine,” said Catherine. They have been given a follow up date for late January at which time we will see them again. Thank you for your prayers and messages for Britney during her time at the hospital.
“Britney is fine. I am praying to God that the path will work - the ETV,” said Catherine. She spoke about how God has given her strength to take care of Britney and if she didn’t have the grace of God she would have given up on Britney a long time ago. Britney is doing well and being transferred out of the ICU today. Catherine will meet with some of the nurses today to make sure Catherine knows how to do clean intermittent catheterization (CIC). Britney’s doctors are optimistic that if Britney continues to improve well they may go home tomorrow. Catherine has been enjoying the chapel services which have been an encouragement to her. She has also made a couple of friends to pass the time with. Please be praying for Britney to keep recovering well from surgery!
I am good - only worried,” said Catherine. Today Britney went into surgery where Dr. Justin performed an ETV/CPC which was successful. Britney is now in the ICU recovering from her surgery. Catherine has been waiting outside the ICU and this afternoon she has just been allowed in to see Britney which has made her happy. Please be praying for Britney that her operation will be successful and for her to have a swift recovery!
On Saturday, Britney and Catherine arrived at CURE Uganda and were admitted. Yesterday they got settled in and attended the chapel service for the families in the hospital which Catherine enjoyed. Her church back home is aware that they are at the hospital and have been praying for them. Today Britney is getting a CT-scan done and a plan is being made for her. Britney is well liked by the moms in her section and by the staff. She has already made friends with nurse Ruth who was taking care of her today. Britney was interested in the thermometer and Ruth showed her what temperature she had. Please keep Britney in your prayers that her time at the hospital will go well!
