“John Harold is the oldest out of my four kids. He teases his little siblings all the time. He likes to tickle them! He’s quiet towards people he’s not familiar with, but he has a lot of friends even though he gets bullied in school and gets into fights because of his clubfeet,” shares John Harold’s mom, Maricris.
“Why is my foot like this?” John Harold often wonders. “This is what God gave you so just leave those people alone when they bully you,” responds Maricris. John Harold goes to school all the time– even on Saturdays! He likes to read. He heard about Tebow CURE’s mobile clinic coming close to their town through their school announcement. “They were looking for kids with disabilities and they put John Harold on the list. Before hearing about Tebow CURE, we never really heard that there was a chance that his feet will be healed,” adds Maricris.
John Harold may often wonder why he has a disability but we pray that he will see God’s wonders as we share God’s love through his healing here at Tebow CURE. We are excited to see what God has in store with John Harold! Please pray with us!
John Harold endured the grueling process of cast change during his follow-up. He didn't like the way his foot looked after the cast was taken off, so Nurse Kent wrapped it in a towel as he diverted John Harold's attention, saying that it only seems like he's having a "foot spa." We love how our nurses interact with our kids! John Harold now has a brand new pair of casts that he can practice walking with and will be back to see us in a few weeks!
The Playstation area was converted into a full on Man Cave this morning, and John Harold was right in the middle of the action! His buddy Emmanuel made it upstairs today to be part of the fun too. Most of these boys get to go home today, John Harold included! But, they all decided to make the most of their remaining time at Tebow CURE in Timmy’s Playroom, it’s one of many blessings we receive from donors to make our kids’ time here a little more endurable. We thank you for being part of all that happens here too!
John Harold was without his wingman Emmanuel today, who preferred to rest in the ward while John Harold ventured out. We’re sad to report that he had a rough night, struggling with some pain and some tears. But, he seems to have rebounded today, playing with Maricris’ cell phone in the playroom. He’ll get to venture even further tomorrow after he’s discharged and gets to head home!
We pray, "Father, may you be with the doctors, and nurses as John Harold goes through surgery today," just before John Harold went into surgery. He went before his buddy Emmanuel while Maricris tagged along with him into the OR where Dr. Shelley worked on straightening both his feet. He was so excited and brought his new shoes here to the hospital even he won't be able to use his shoes until after he's healed, it's good to have something to look forward to while in recovery!
John Harold is quiet but he’s happy to know that he’s not going through this healing journey alone. His neighbor Emmanuel from home is also his neighbor in the ward, so we’re glad that he gets to hang out with his buddy as he heals. You can be his buddy, too! Send John Harold prayers and Get Well Letters that he can read as recovers from tomorrow’s surgery!
