Sofiane is the second born in a family of four children. He came to CURE Niger to seek help for his fingers. Sofiane suffers from congenital syndactyly which means that he was born with two of his fingers (his ring finger and little finger) stuck together on both hands.
Sofiane's family had traveled to Niamey for some holidays when his mother met a friend who had a son treated at here CURE Niger. This friend inspired Rachida to bring Sofiane to our hospital to finally get the help he needs to have full use of his hands for the first time in his life!
Sofiane's mother is very glad to have been admitted to our hospital and is pleased by the warm welcome she received from our medical team.
We are happy to see Sofiane in front of the physical therapy room waiting his turn for the exercises! After physical therapy, he will go back to the bandage change room for a new bandage. Overall, his fingers are healing well really well! His mom told us that he plays well with his hand although it's not completely healed. Let us continue to pray for his total healing!
Today, as our nurse Saratou cleaned Sofiane's wounds to avoid any infection, she asked him what profession he would like to do when he finish school, "Ummm...police man!" the young boy responded! Please, keep this future policeman in your prayers for rapid healing!
Sofiane calmly observed the nurses who gently cleaned the wound of his surgery. The doctor told us that Sofiane's wounds are healing well so far. He just has to continue with the bandage changes and being more careful at home until he is completely healed!
Sofiane has recovered well after his surgery. He was discharged over the weekend, but he was back this morning for his first bandage change! He was a little bit quiet, but his mother has told us that Sofiane was very active at home and is doing well. Please, continue your prayers for this young man's rapid healing!
After he has spent an hour in the operating room, Sofiane is resting in the recovery room were our nurse are looking after him. His surgery went well and, as you can see, the surgery team successfully separated Sofiane's webbed fingers! He will be able to continue his recovery back in the ward once he fully wakes up.
