“People tell us not to go to hospitals because Bacharou’s condition is a bush problem and only the magicians can get the devil out,” Bacharou’s mother tells us still unsure if she has made the right decision coming to us here at CURE Niger for healing. Two years ago, Bacharou was playing with some friends when he returned home complaining of a sore leg. Upon closer inspection, his family noticed some swelling in his leg and brought him to the hospital. This visit began two years of seeking healing through both medical and spiritual avenues with no results. Bacharou has had to drop out of school during this time and has lost the ability to walk. Thankfully, a woman ran into them and told them about us here at CURE Niger and that we can offer Bacharou healing. Now that Bacharou is with us, we will operate on his leg, clearing it of infection and allowing him to walk once again!
Our man's surgery was a success! The doctors were able to clear out all the dead material and flush the area with what is essentially disinfectant. Bacharou is sewed up and ready to go home! Please be praying that infection hasn't spread anywhere else so this is the last surgery he'll need!
Bacharou's infection has persisted and he's back for another surgery. It's the same issue, but in a different spot on his leg this time. Infection like his can be tricky to remove as they have the potential to spread like his has. Our man is bummed to be back, but we're happy he is so we can get to the bottom of this!
Bacharou got discharged early this morning and managed to slip out before we could grab a photo, but he'll be back soon for a dressing change and we're pumped that he gets to spend the weekend at home!
Bacharou's surgery went splendidly. The doctors went in and cleaned out all the infected tissue before stitching him back up and sending him back to the ward. He's resting up nicely and will mostly likely be on his way shortly!
