"My son was all fine when he was born. But when his legs began to bend. Many people say it was be a curse or punishment for something bad we did in the past. I was so scared to hear this. I wished Zaibu never developed this deformity," Zaibu's mother Marium tells us with a pain behind her eyes.
Zaibu's legs began to bend outwards, a condition called bow legs, when he was still young and this changed everything for his family. Despite the discrimination their family faced for being seen as cursed, Mariam and her husband had the strength to go against convention and seek out medical care for Zaibu. They spent many long hours seeking help from health providers that were far from their home. Their perseverance eventually paid off as they met a doctor who told them about us here at CURE Malawi. Mariam and Zaibu wasted no time in coming to our hospital!
"The nurses are really caring and I love them so much! The way we have been warmly welcomed, this has really helped me to have a hopeful end result as my son will be receiving his surgery!" Marium tells us with hope slowly replacing the pain that has been there for so long.
Zaibu will have his operation soon so please join us in welcoming him and his mother!
Zaibu is going home today! After our CURE Malawi doctors had reviewed him, they were confident enough to send Zaibu and his mother home! Zaibu will be seen after six weeks to remove his casts. Please keep Zaibu in your prayers - for his travels and for his smooth healing! Thank you so much for the love, care, and prayers you have shown to Zaibu and his mother during their time here with us at CURE Malawi!
Zaibu is in the operating room as we speak! "Please pray for my son as he goes into the surgery. I am a bit scared but I believe Zaibu is in good hands," Marium asked us. As Marium waits, please send your prayers and encouragements to this family!
Welcome Zaibu who is here at CURE Malawi! He came here with bowed legs and our doctors are planning to take this young man into the operating room to straighten his legs out. Please pray for Zaibu as he gets ready for this life changing operation! "When my friends see that my son is healed, they will be happy as well because they encouraged me not to give up my search for help," Zaibu's mom Marium told us.
