CURE in Malawi
The picture above is of CURE in Malawi. Everyone who serves with CURE in Malawi, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Maclifa. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.
We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Maclifa. When you give a gift through Maclifa's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Malawi. Have more questions? Ask us.
Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!
When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Maclifa. We call it being a CURE Hero!

“I remember some students in my class would make jokes about my burnt hand. I told my mother about it and she promised me that she will try to look for help to fix my hand,” Maclifa shared with us. Maclifa was burnt when he was six years old. He was with his friends warming themselves by the fire. Unfortunately, Meclifa’s shirt got too close to the flames and caught fire, badly burning his left hand. His parents took him to the closest hospital where he was given an initial treatment, but in the months that followed, Maclifa's hand healed incorrectly. The skin healed in a way where it pulled his hand down into an unusable position. "He complains of the pain andI would love to see my son healed,” Maclifa’s mother Odeta told us. Maclifa was seen at one of our CURE Malawi mobile clinics in his home village and was booked to come here for the operation he needs to free his hand!
Latest Updates
There has been so much improvement in Maclifa's arm and he's getting more and more mobile! Maclifa is now spending much of his time in the playroom and we are so grateful for all your support and prayers. Please continue!
Maclifa's review was a quick one the other day and he went into the operation room for another procedure! The doctors figured out his pinky finger wouldn't be functional even after releasing it from the burn contracture, so they removed it completely. Maclifa came out of the OR in a bit of pain, but mostly hungry like a wolf. He immediately chomped down some nsima, beans, and greens. Please continue to keep Maclifa in your prayers as he recovers and adjusts to his new hand!
Maclifa not only loves blowing balloons up, but also chewing on them. This weekend he celebrated CUREkid, Tiyamike's birthday and had the best moves on the dance floor. We are hoping we get to see those moves more often in the kid's ward. Maclifa will be reviewed by the doctor tomorrow to see what's next. Thanks for keeping him in your prayers!
