CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Bravin. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Bravin. When you give a gift through Bravin's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Bravin. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Meet Bravin! A very jovial 13 year old boy who was born with cerebral palsy. His mom only noticed when he was 4 months and was trying to stand and support himself that his left foot was curved and that he used his toes to stand. Metrin took her son to a nearby dispensary where she was asked to wait until he was a bit older.

Metrin who works in a flower farm raises Bravin on her own. Her husband left because of Bravin’s disability and all the financial constraints that came with it. Metrin told us that she only works in the flower farm because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to pay rent or put food on the table. “If I had it any other way, I would quit my job and stay home taking care of my son!” Metrin told us.

Bravin’s mum found out about CURE Kenya from a friend and she decided to give it a try. She brought Bravin for a doctor’s check up and they were told that Bravin would need surgery. Metrin was so worried about money needed for the operation. She went home and let the whole issue sit without addressing. When she received a phone call from CURE Kenya, she celebrated. Metrin knew for a fact that now her son has a chance of walking normally when the correction is done. Bravin and his mum are at CURE and Metrin believes that her son will come out of theatre safely and healed.

Bravin came today for a check up and to have his leg properly re-casted. When he left to go home a week ago, he went with an incomplete plaster because his leg was a bit swollen. They were asked to come back after a week, so he can have a complete cast applied to help with his recovery. Bravin is doing well. Photo of Bravin

“I am happy that Bravin can now sleep because his pain has gone down.” Metrin told us. Bravin has been receiving some pain medication that has really helped him both feel and sleep better. We thank God for everyday that Bravin is healing and we look forward to seeing him walking with both feet! Photo of Bravin

Today Bravin is doing much better. His pain has subsided, but he wants his cast taken off and thrown away. “He knows that that’s where the problem is and that he started feeling pain when the cast was put on, so he want’s it off.” Bravin’s mum told us. We are praying that Bravin is able to understand why he needs the cast and we pray for Metrin to have strength to keep taking care of him. Photo of Bravin

Bravin was feeling a lot of post-op discomfort this morning. There is no better treatment for that than a mom’s embrace and that’s exactly where we found Bravin. We said a prayer for Bravin and we ask you to continue praying for him to feel better and for his healing. Photo of Bravin

These are Bravin’s sandals. The left one is like that because of his deformity. Due to the nature of the work Bravin’s mum does and the little money she makes, she can only afford a pair of sandals every once in a while so she has them repaired. We hope that after his surgery he is going to be able to wear shoes that are more durable! Photo of Bravin

Metrin understands Bravin very well and she loves him so much. Bravin notices this and reciprocates the love as well. We thank God for Metrin and for her heart to love and care for Bravin. Please pray that God increases her desire to take care of Bravin and for grace and strength to continue doing it. Photo of Bravin
