CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Joseph. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Joseph. When you give a gift through Joseph's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Joseph. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"After Joseph was delivered, I was distraught for a few days not knowing what to do."

The day Joseph was born, Julius was filled with mixed emotions as a new father. For one, he was proud, but he also saw that his son had a condition he has never seen before!

The doctors told him that the condition could be treated with several procedures. They started with the Ponseti method when Joseph was just two weeks old. But the series of castings through the Ponseti method were not done exceptionally well. A wound developed on Joseph’s ankle as a result of the tight casts.

Seeing that the foot was becoming worse, Julius came to CURE when he saw a poster that showed correctable conditions through surgery. He was directed to the Nairobi clinic where he was scheduled for a shoe-brace fitting for a few months. However, the doctors saw that he still needed surgical correction. Now Joseph and his father Julius are here at CURE to see Joseph completely healed.

"Time to go home!" Joseph exclaimed when he saw his dad come back with discharge papers. Julius told us that Joseph has been looking forward to go home and continue practice walking with crutches, especially now that schools are opening on Monday. Joseph will not be left out of school even though he's still looking forward to being fully healed! Thank you so much for your continued support during Joseph's time at CURE! Photo of Joseph

Joseph's physiotherapy session began early this morning. He was given walking appliances by our physiotherapy team and was able to move around the ward. This was shot as he was coming back from getting some sunshine. We hope and pray that these sessions will improve Joseph's mobility as he heals from his surgery. Photo of Joseph

Joseph is back in the ward resting after his successful surgery. We caught up with him and after seeing us, he immediately said that he wants a teddybear to help him sleep. So we happily obliged! We thank the Lord for you and your support that brought us this far! Photo of Joseph

The doctors were finishing up the cleansing the area on Joseph's foot where an osteotomy procedure is going to be performed. In Joseph's case, metal plates or screws may be used to hold the foot in the correct position after cutting into the bone. Once Joseph's foot and ankle are securely placed, the doctors will put Joseph's leg in a cast. This procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. Kindly join us in prayer for a successful surgery! Photo of Joseph

Joseph is a go-getter with a very big smile. His father tells us that Joseph is a fun and extraordinary boy with exemplary grades in school. "Before the school's closure, he was in the second position in his entire class," Julius told us. We kindly ask you to join us in prayer and support for Joseph's healing transformation!
