Adanech and her mother, Meste, traveled for hours on foot to get to a city near their village so that they could travel the rest of the way to the CURE Children's Hospital of Ethiopia. They came to the hospital seeking help for Adanech’s burn contractures.
Years ago, when Adanech was just an infant, her three older sisters made a fire to prepare coffee for their mom, but little Adanech’s clothes caught on fire and burned her leg and hands. Thankfully, nothing happened to the rest of her siblings. After the accident, Adanech received treatment, but her right foot healed with a burn contracture. It was slight at first, but over time, it got worse and forced Adanech to limp.
Adanech is in second grade and dreams of becoming a doctor someday. Children in her school make fun of her foot and call her mean names. “When the children are mean to her, if they are older, she always cries and comes home,” Meste, Adanech’s mother, explained.
Now, Adanech is at CURE Ethiopia, ready to begin her healing journey. Please join us in welcoming her to the CURE family!
We found Adanech in a great mood today! Thankfully, she is feeling great. She had another trip to the operation room for a bandage change to see the healing progress of her foot. It is healing well, and she got a new bandage on after cleaning her surgery wound!
Adanech is doing well, but she still has a little pain from her operation. The nurses are aware and taking good care of her. She is in good hands as she continues to heal. Please keep her in your prayers for a speedy recovery
Thank you all for your prayers! Adanech's surgery was a success! Dr. Tesfaye released the burn contracture she had on her right foot and put in a pin in her toes to help them stay straight. Now, Adanech is back in the ward resting. Please join us in prayer for Adanech's recovery.
