Gorfe and her mother Aberash came to CURE Ethiopia seeking help for Gorfe’s foot problem. The family didn’t know what caused it, but they remember that her foot started bending when Gorfe was around six years old. According to her mother Aberash, Gorfe used to walk without a problem, but now, she walks on the heel of her left foot. “I took her to different holy water places to get healing, but her foot still bent upward,” Aberash shared. Recently, the family decided to seek medical intervention, and the hospital they visited referred them to CURE Ethiopia.
Gorfe is in seventh grade and loves going to school, but the children at school make fun of her foot and her walking. “It really hurts hearing all those mean words, but I love learning so I go to school. I want to study hard and be a Banker when I grow up,” proclaims Gorfe.
Now that Gorfe is at CURE Ethiopia, we are looking forward to being a part of her healing story. She is a motivated young girl that is going to do great things!
"Thank you for thinking of me and for all of your prayers," says Gorfe, after hearing the get-well messages she got from everyone. One of our counselors read the messages to her and Gorfe was so happy to hear from everyone! Thank you all for making her happy, she is doing great and your encouragement aids in her healing!
Gorfe is doing wonderfully! She is making friends and enjoying her stay while continuing her healing! Today, we found her with her new friend Kiya in their wheelchairs chatting and enjoying their morning! Please continue praying for her as she recovers!
We found Gorfe wheeling around the ward! Mostly, she stays in bed resting and chatting with her mom Aberash. But today, she decided to wheel around and meet other children in the ward. She is doing great and continuing her healing. Thank you for your prayers for Gorfe!
Gorfe began her frame turning today. Our ortho technician Bayu, turns the frame on her foot every day. This frame turning will help her foot to gradually become straight. Gorfe is doing wonderfully and enjoying her stay in the ward!
Gorfe is doing great! She is still getting used to the frame she has on her foot and is recovering well from her operation. Right now, Gorfe spends most of her time in bed resting and the rest of her time in a wheelchair wheeling around the ward!
Gorfe's surgery went well! Dr. Tewodros straightened out her foot and put on a frame that will help her foot stay in the correct position. Now Gorfe is back in the ward resting. Please continue praying for her as she recovers!
“I want to be healed and help other people who are in need,” proclaims Gorfe. She is at CURE Ethiopia getting ready for her operation. Please join us in welcoming her as she starts this life-changing journey!
