CURE in Ethiopia

The picture above is of CURE in Ethiopia. Everyone who serves with CURE in Ethiopia, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Degaga. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Degaga. When you give a gift through Degaga's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Ethiopia. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Degaga. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"Once I’m healed and able to walk to school. Then I want to graduate and work in a bank!" Degaga told us with a sense of pride.

“We noticed it when he was five years old” Desta, Degaga’s father shared with us. “We took him to a clinic in our village but they told us they could not help him”. Degaga and his father Desta were discouraged and did not know what other course of action to take. They did the best they could for years until a good samaritan passing by shared with them the good news that we here at CURE Ethiopia can offer to children with disabilities! Degaga has different problems with both his legs and his left foot too. He and his family live in a rural area and his school is a 45 minutes walk from their home. A distance which is impossible for him to walk with his legs the way they are. As a result, Degaga has never been to school, much to his frustration. Degaga does manage to walk with the use of a stick and looks forward to being healed and being able to walk the whole way to school just like his sibling and friends!

Join us in helping Degaga to have his wish come true!

Degaga needs a couple of surgeries to help him stand straight and to walk better. The first one will be on his left leg and will involve reorienting the bones, releasing some skin and muscles in both his knee and ankle, as well as releasing some tendons. It'll be a big job, but it will help him to have a better life! Please keep this young boy in your prayers! Photo of Degaga
