Accountant - US Corporate Headquarters United States | Accounting and Finance

Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Corporate Headquarters of CURE International Children's Hospitals is looking to add an Accountant to the team! 

The Accountant at CURE plays a crucial role in creating financial transactions and generating reports, posting data to the accounting software (Odoo) from invoices, vouchers, and credit card receipts. This role involves managing budgets across various projects and departments, requiring strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with project managers and department heads. The Accountant ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with grant requirements, and optimal resource allocation, supporting CURE's mission. This position is ideal for an steady and practiced accountant who is passionate about making a difference.

Relocation is not provided. The work location for this position can be either remote or onsite at the Corporate Headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Communicates with hospital finance staff members regarding various accounting transactions that involve CURE Mission Support Center (MSC)/Headquarters. 
  2. Collaborate with project managers and department heads to provide financial insights and recommendations for cost optimization.
  3. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with the finance team.
  4. Processes accounts payable related to certain purchase orders (POs) or transactions.
  5. Oversees the staff expense reporting system, the setup and utilization of corporate credit cards, and communication with the credit card company.
  6. Sends out monthly reminders and communications to staff regarding their expense reports and trains new staff in the expense report system.
  7. Post deposits and wire transfers to the Odoo accounting software. 
  8. Organizes and maintains accounting records in an accurate and timely manner.
  9. Prepares other monthly accounting reports. (Budget to actual, Grant Reporting)
  10. Maintains confidentiality of records.
 

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Assists the Controller and the Project Accountant in the preparation of reports.
  • Researches and examines accounting discrepancies. 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance with two years experience, preferred.
  • Associates Degree with five or more years of general accounting experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Director of Biomedical Equipment Services Multiple Countries | Biomedical

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Biomedical Services (DBES) is responsible for providing leadership and maintaining administrative and operational responsibility for the Biomedical Equipment Services across the CURE Hospital Network and Mission Support Center. Responsibilities include specification formulation, testing, utilization, preventive maintenance, pre-purchase evaluation, and repair of all biomedical equipment to assure the optimum use and availability of such equipment. The DBES maintains and expands a relevant vendor and training partner network to obtain up-to-date information about new products, equipment upgrades and training materials and methods. The DBES has oversight over the biomedical co-workers, coordinates the biomedical asset management and reporting process, provides onsite hospital support as needed and is responsible for the design and facilitation of biomedical training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Core Essential Functions:

  1. Manages and coordinates daily biomedical equipment service operations across the Hospital Network that provides lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and testing equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. 
  2. Responsible for establishing standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes across the Hospital Network. 
  3. Responsible for providing technical leadership and developing applicable training resources for Biomedical Engineers and other relevant clinical / medical co-workers to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices across the Hospital Network.
  4. Maintains total administrative responsibility for the optimum use of all biomedical equipment used across the Hospital Network, including participation in the development of and monitoring of all biomedical equipment contracts in which CURE is involved.
  5. Establishes operating guidelines for all services in compliance with CURE and Governing bodies, and established business and hospital practices and procedures. 
  6. Develops and implements management reporting systems within designated areas of responsibility.
  7. Performs and supervises inspections of all new biomedical equipment to assure compliance with specifications, requisite operational and safety standards.
  8. Develops evaluation criteria and conducts pre-purchase evaluation to select equipment. 
  9. Develops and approves specifications and performance of new biomedical equipment and determines its suitability for utilization and compatibility with existing equipment.
  10. Plans the purchase and installation, as well as, assurance of compatibility, certification of performance and monitoring of service agreements.
  11. Supervises and trains biomedical technicians in the inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of all equipment.
  12. Schedules staffing to insure adequate coverage of biomedical equipment services across the Hospital Network.
  13. Participates in preparation of those portions of the annual Hospital Network budget related to Biomedical Equipment Services.
  14. Develops methods for KPI reporting and quality control across the Hospital Network.
  15. Attends conferences, seminars, and meetings as necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and/or Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET), preferred.
  2. Seven years of experience in the design, operation, repair and maintenance of biomedical and/or electronic equipment, two years of which must have been at the supervisory, managerial, or administrative level in an international NGO.
  3. Proof of relevant experience in training, mentoring, and building a full-fledged Biomedical Equipment Services department is highly preferred.
  4. Extensive knowledge of the function of Biomedical Services systems and processes required.
  5. Fluent in the English language (C1 or C2 level).
Events Specialist - Donor Experience United States | Advancement

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the development and implementation of major events and experiences for key donors. Plans events with a high level of hospitality and attention to detail. Imagines, creates and executes world-class environments and experiences for donors that increase engagement with the organization. Provide excellent customer service to event attendees, donors, and sponsors, ensuring a positive experience that fosters long-term relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Oversee all donor-facing functions required to design and execute 5-7 regional events per year and one major national event ranging from 20-200 attendees.
  2. Manage all event logistics and vendors for venues, A/V, caterers, and support staff. 
  3. Financially manage the event budget, track expenses, and process expenses. 
  4. Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party vendors and service providers.
  5. Partner with teammates to produce promotions, donor communications, and collateral such as invitations, email reminders, and signage for each event.
  6. Run event planning meetings and coordinate with internal key stakeholders throughout the planning process. 
  7. Produce post-event reporting, evaluations, and learnings. 
  8. Serve as primary on-site day-of event manager.
  9. Compiles a list of prospective event locations; visits locations and provides guidance to management on the final selection. 
  10. Assist with travel and planning support for donors traveling overseas for on-site visits.
  11. Organize support for bi-annual impact reports and shared content folders.
  12. Partner with the MarComm department for any needed campaign collateral or content for donor-facing presentations, including conferences, and church events.
  13. Facilitate presentation support and reporting for team meetings and summits.
  14. Maintain event registration processes and keep updated donor records in the database.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associates degree required. Bachelor's preferred.
  2. 3 years’ experience coordinating in-person event planning.
  3. At least one year of experience working in a non-profit or fund-raising environment, preferred.

Head of Accounting United States | Finance and Accounting

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Head of Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function of CURE. This role entails the strategic management of both the corporate and international accounting teams, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Head of Accounting will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy, supporting financial planning and analysis, and ensuring the integrity of financial information across the organization. This position directly supervises and leads the accounting department.

This is an onsite position, working in the Corporate Office located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
    1. Lead and manage the Corporate and International Accounting Directors, providing strategic direction and oversight.
    2. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory requirements.
    3. Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop accounting strategies aligned with the organization’s goals.
    4. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high ethical standards within the accounting team.
  2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    1. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
    2. Ensure hospital and corporate books are closed and reconciled by the 10th of each month.
    3. Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all required regulatory filings and tax returns, including Form 990.
    4. Coordinate the annual financial audit process in collaboration with the Corporate Accounting Director and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  3. Grants and Restricted Gifts Management:
    1. Collaborate with project managers, department heads, grants team, and others as needed to ensure proper utilization and reporting of grant funds.
    2. Develop and implement processes for monitoring and reporting on the financial status of grants and restricted funds.
    3. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of grant financial reports for donors and regulatory agencies.
  4. Internal Controls and Risk Management:
    1. Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial transactions.
    2. Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to compliance and governance standards.
    3. Maintain accurate accounting policies and standard operating procedures to include monthly accounting reviews and checklist documentation.
  5. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    1. Oversee the budgeting process, working closely with department heads and hospital finance teams to prepare annual budgets.
    2. Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
    3. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and operational efficiency.
  6. Team Development and Support:
    1. Mentor and develop the Corporate and International Accounting teams, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to perform effectively.
    2. Promote collaboration and communication across the accounting functions and with other departments.
    3. Support the implementation of internal audit recommendations and improvements in accounting practices.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and timely delivery of Marketing & Communications initiatives and requested projects. This includes fundraising campaigns, engagement initiatives, departmental requests, and hospital support as they each align with organizational plans, goals, and priorities. The ideal candidate is able to work cross-departmentally to keep projects moving, while also engaging external vendors to manage timelines, cost, and quality of deliverables. This individual is highly organized, detailed, and a team player who continues to achieve project milestones while ensuring a high-level of quality and internal communication and takes responsibility for keeping projects on track.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Organize and manage marketing, communication and branding projects from kick-off to delivery to debriefing.
  2. Oversee the workflow and project management systems. 
  3. Work to improve efficiency and timely delivery of materials.
  4. Work with requesters and audience managers to maintain communication calendars.
  5. Works cross-departmentally to keep projects on task and schedule. 
  6. Ensure a quality review process is followed to eliminate errors and ensure high-quality work at all times. This includes overseeing the proofing process of each deliverable.

  10. Partner with the Marketing & Events Coordinator to ensure events are executed with excellence and finite attention to detail, and savings are requested.
  11. Collaborate + Strategize with Global Director of Marketing, Communications and Brand to help plan large-scale events.
  12. Manage and support radio fundraising campaigns and drives.
  13. Assist with logistics for donor events (e.g., President’s Weekend).
  14. Participate in Organizational Staff Meetings as directed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or similar field, or an equivalent amount of related experience. 
  2. Minimum 2 years experience (5+ preferred) in a role demonstrating administrative oversight, team-oriented support, project management and/or business administration.

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon - Pediatric Specialty Ethiopia | Medical

 

CURE International is seeking an experienced pediatric orthopedic spine surgeon who is interested in playing a critical role in the development of a first-of-its-kind operative spinal program at its hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are committed to finding the right person for this role; therefore, we will consider qualified candidates interested in either a full-time or part-time, flexible schedule. 

CURE is a faith-based non-profit organization operating a network of eight children’s hospitals throughout Africa and the Philippines. We provide world-class surgical care and intentional spiritual care to children living with treatable disabilities, all of which is free of charge to the patients and their families. 

The pediatric orthopedic spine surgeon will contribute to the important work of transforming the lives of many children who would otherwise face a lifetime of disability, pain and discrimination. We are seeking a missionally-aligned spine specialist who will embrace this unique opportunity and who possesses a desire to train the next generation of spine specialists in Ethiopia. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assess patients with musculoskeletal disability, taking and recording a salient history, examination and formulating an appropriate management plan including relevant investigations and surgical or non-operative management.
  2. Diagnose and treat spinal disorders, identifying ways to preserve pain-free function through treatment and surgical intervention.
  3. Participate in traveling to mobile clinics in different parts of the country as organized by the hospital and assigned to by the head of orthopedics.
  4. Treat patients and families with care and respect, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics.
  5. When surgical management is appropriate, undertaking careful consent, clarifying to the patient (where appropriate) and family member the nature of the condition and procedure that is advised, the risks, possible alternatives and nature of anesthesia required.
  6. Create pre-operative plans for each surgery, and where necessary, discuss with colleagues the surgical plans.
  7. Provide a high standard of surgical care, adhering to the highest standards of sterile operative technique while creating a cohesive team environment centered on safety and quality care.
  8. Record each step of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record and/or inpatient paper charts.
  9. Recognize complications that arise and respond appropriately, including discussing the event with the Medical Director and reporting it in the quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess patients with musculoskeletal disability, taking and recording a salient history, examination and formulating an appropriate management plan including relevant investigations and surgical or non-operative management.
  • Treat patients and families with care and respect, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics.
  • Obtain careful consent when surgery is necessary, clarifying to the patient (where appropriate) and family member the nature of the procedure that is advised, the risks, possible alternatives and nature of anesthesia required.
  • Create and discuss preoperative plans for each surgery with fellow faculty members.
  • Provide a high standard of surgical care, adhering to the highest standards of sterile operative technique while creating a cohesive team environment centered on safety and quality care.
  • Record each step of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record and inpatient paper charts.
  • Recognize complications that arise and respond appropriately, including discussing the event with the Medical Director and reporting it in the quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  • Ensure a high level of patient and staff safety is upheld at all times.
  • Participate actively in the training activities of the hospital and willingly engage in quality improvement projects, audit, and research.

Rehabilitation Services Manager - CURE Niger Niger | Clinical

CURE International Children's Hospital in Niamey, Niger has an exciting opening for a Rehabilitation Services Manager! CURE Niger has been a place of hope since opening its doors in 2010. Ours is the first and only hospital in the country to provide Christ-centered care and charitable surgeries for children with treatable disabilities. CURE’s medical team walks with children and their families throughout every step of their healing journey, providing the therapies they need along the way. Care extends beyond surgery itself–including pre-surgery prep and post-surgical rehabilitation and physical therapy. These are integral to ensuring children improve their strength and mobility, giving them the best chance at living full, productive, independent lives.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

To oversee the running of the department and ensure high standard of rehabilitation services in the department through efficient use of human resources, equipment and appliances within the department and provide leadership to the rehabilitation team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under the overall direction of the Medical Director:

  1. Plans and budgets for the rehabilitation services provided annually.
  2. Provides daily supervision and on-the-job training for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapist assistants, support personnel, caregivers, students, volunteers and visitors to the department.
  3. Conducts at least ten continuous professional development (CPD) sessions for the rehabilitation team annually.
  4. Participates in developing and or updating at least one condition specific rehabilitation protocol monthly.
  5. Chairs monthly departmental meetings.
  6. Participates in at least four information, education and communication (IEC) training sessions (caregiver workshops and focus group discussions) for patients and their caregivers annually.
  7. Monitors and evaluates rehabilitation services to ensure implementation of policies, network standard operating protocols (SOPs) and guidelines.
  8. Provides evidence-based physiotherapy to patients according to their levels of function and severity of impairments.
  9. Participates in ward rounds to communicate treatment plans and support the medical team in providing holistic patient centered care.
  10. Attends CURE Rehabilitation network activities as appropriate. 
  11. Promotes multidisciplinary treatment approach by liaising with other professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, prosthetics and orthotics team , as well as patients' families, caregivers and employers.
  12. Updates patient records and health educates the patient’s caregivers/family about the patient’s progress.
  13. Ensures maintenance of all rehabilitation equipment by ensuring regular servicing by the Maintenance Team.
  14. Represents the hospital at rehabilitation related activities as required.
  15. Report writing, staff appraisals and overall administration of the department.
  16. Orders stocks and supplies for the department.
  17. Ensures that IPC standards and hospital policies are upheld in the department.
  18. Responsible for quality control of assistive devices as required by patients.
  19. Refers patients to respective specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention.
  20. Provides on-the-job training about Pediatric rehabilitation to colleagues, students and volunteers.
  21. Reports all accidents and untoward incidents to the Medical Director and Director of Rehabilitation.
  22. Adheres to professional standards as required by the institution.
  23. Spearheads and promotes research in the department and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  24. In-charge of all quality activities in relation to this position as per the Hospital Standards.
 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Appropriate licensure and credentialing as required in the country for the practice of physiotherapy.
  2. 1-2 years experience as a pediatric physiotherapist.
  3. Proficiency in the English language (C1 or C2 level).
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  1. Strong communications skills with peers, superiors, physicians and patients and their families.
  2. Knowledge of protocols for physiotherapy and rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
