Construction Specialist, Capital Projects - Remote in Africa Kenya | CURE International

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Construction Specialist, Capital Projects provides essential tracking, reporting, and administrative support for all CURE capital projects. This includes compiling financial reports, tracking progress milestones, and maintaining project documentation to ensure effective decision-making. The Capital Projects Specialist will be responsible for cost management, tracking financial activities and producing cash flow forecasts and budget vs actual reports. They will track progress milestones and deadlines. They will utilize project management software to provide regular reports, dashboards and assist the capital projects team in making data-driven decisions. This is remote position on the continent of Africa.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintain a standard project management template and keep each project folder up to date.
  2. Maintain up to date project budgets and cost reports.
  3. Maintain and update GANTT charts and project tracking tools, ensuring accurate reporting on progress milestones and financials.
  4. Liaise with the project team to track and report on project timelines, expected completion dates, and outstanding action items.
  5. Assist the project team with documentation and filing of reports in a timely manner.
  6. Track and report on project concerns, escalating issues to the Project Engineer and Leadership for resolution.
  7. Track and reconcile budget vs actuals, working with the finance and accounting teams to ensure alignment on spending.
  8. Making recommendations for continuous improvement of team processes and policies to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  9. Data Analysis: Develop and maintain a comprehensive project data repository, including financial data, progress metrics, risk assessments, and performance indicators.
  10. Assist in maintaining and applying the framework for evaluating and prioritizing capital projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Experience with financial reporting and variance analysis for capital expenditures.
  2. Certifications in one or more aspects of project management.

Head of Logistics United States | Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Head of Logistics is a strategic leadership position responsible for building and scaling a world-class supply chain that directly supports CURE’s mission of delivering safe, life-changing surgical care to children across our global network of hospitals. As part of a key organizational initiative, this role will oversee the end-to-end logistics operation—including global hospital procurement, equipment refurbishment and maintenance, international shipping, and corporate and in-country inventory management.

This leader will not only ensure the timely and efficient delivery of critical medical supplies and equipment, but also play a vital role in shaping systems and strategies that enable CURE to grow sustainably and serve more children. Reporting to senior leadership, the Head of Logistics will lead a cross-functional team and work in close partnership with hospital and corporate office teams to strengthen operational excellence in alignment with CURE’s strategic plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Procurement & Supply Chain Strategy (50%)

Lead the development and execution of CURE’s global procurement and supply chain strategy to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality medical supplies, equipment, and services across all hospitals.
  • Design and oversee a centralized procurement strategy aligned with CURE’s mission, operational needs, and growth trajectory.
  • Standardized procurement processes, tools, and systems across the network to ensure transparency, stewardship, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and manage strategic vendor partnerships, negotiating contracts and framework agreements that secure reliable quality, delivery, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with hospital and medical leadership to maintain standardized formulary lists (e.g., medical consumables, pharmaceuticals, surgical tools).
  • Oversee procurement of capital equipment (e.g., imaging systems, surgical equipment, autoclaves) and major infrastructure-related purchases—ensuring robust vendor evaluation, long-term serviceability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead the implementation of consumption forecasting and demand planning systems that improve planning accuracy and prevent stockouts.
  • Identify and develop regional (Africa-based or near-continent) sourcing channels to reduce lead times, minimize costs, and improve responsiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, ethical sourcing standards, and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Build and mentor the procurement and supply chain team across headquarters and hospital sites, fostering local ownership and best practice adoption.

Inventory Management (25%)

Establish world-class inventory management systems and practices to improve visibility, reduce waste, and support uninterrupted clinical operations.

  • Oversee the full adoption and ongoing improvement of the inventory management software (e.g., Odoo) across all CURE hospitals and the Distribution Center.
  • Develop standardized inventory control procedures, including barcoding, cycle counting, reorder point settings, and stock-level monitoring.
  • Support infrastructure development at hospital and warehouse levels to ensure appropriate storage, security, and environmental conditions for inventory.
  • Provide training and capacity building for hospital- and warehouse-based teams on inventory planning, documentation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with hospital operations teams to optimize stock flow between central stores, clinical areas, and procurement functions.
  • Monitor and report on inventory KPIs (e.g., stock turnover, shrinkage, expirations) to drive data-informed improvements.
Logistics & Shipping Management (25%)

Lead the global coordination of inbound and outbound logistics to ensure the secure, timely, and cost-efficient movement of goods across the CURE network.
  • Oversee international shipping and customs clearance processes, working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and local authorities.
  • Manage the operations and physical infrastructure of the CURE Distribution Center, ensuring it supports centralized procurement and scalable distribution.
  • Implement logistics tracking systems to improve shipment visibility and reduce delays or losses.
  • Optimize transportation methods and regional shipping routes, balancing cost-efficiency, shipment speed, and delivery reliability.
  • Ensure the appropriate documentation and compliance for all shipments, including donor-funded goods and medical equipment.
  • Coordinate with hospital operations teams to plan for and receive shipments effectively, minimizing disruption to clinical workflows.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or operations management.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, including managing cross-functional teams and leading strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory management, logistics platforms, and procurement systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills, with a focus on stewardship, cost-efficiency, and accountability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, or equivalent) with a focus on global health, operations, or business.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare procurement or medical supply management.
  • Experience in a global non-profit or faith-based organization, particularly in resource-limited or cross-cultural settings.
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements, ethical sourcing practices, and procurement in mission-driven organizations.
  • Prior leadership in system implementations (e.g., ERP or inventory systems) across geographically dispersed teams.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Procurement Cost Savings: Achieve a minimum 5% reduction in overall procurement costs within 12 months through increased on-continent or near-continent (Africa-based) sourcing strategies.
  • Vendor Lead Time Reduction: Reduce the average lead time for critical medical supplies by 10%, compared to baseline metrics from the previous year.
  • Centralized Procurement Adoption: Achieve at least 40% centralized procurement of hospital supplies within the first year..

Inventory Management

  • Inventory Accuracy: Achieve less than 2% error rate in inventory records following network-wide monthly stock takes and biannual physical inventory audits.
  • Stock Take Compliance: Ensure 100% of hospitals and the Distribution Center complete monthly stock takes and semi-annual physical inventories on time and in accordance with SOPs.

Logistics & Delivery

  • On-Time, On-Budget Delivery Rate: Ensure that 90% of all shipments (including 20–24 containers annually) are delivered on schedule, with minimal delays and within planned duty and inspection budgets.
International Internal Audit Manager - Remote in Africa United States | Finance and Operations

CURE International is seeking an experienced and dynamic Internal Audit Manager to lead the establishment, execution, and growth of the internal audit function across its network of hospitals. The Internal Audit Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing financial transparency, operational efficiency, and compliance within the organization's healthcare facilities. This position requires extensive travel to CURE hospitals to conduct internal audits and build a high-performing internal audit team.

The Internal Audit Manager is a remote position, with ideal candidates being located in one of CURE's countries of operation in Africa. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Internal Audit Function Establishment:
    1. Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit framework, including policies, procedures, and audit methodologies aligned with international best practices.
    2. Collaborate with senior management to define the scope, objectives, and annual audit plan for each hospital in the network.
    3. Design and implement risk assessment processes to identify areas of potential vulnerability and recommend strategies for risk mitigation.
  2. Internal Audit Execution:
    1. Lead and conduct on-site audits of CURE International hospitals, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
    2. Evaluate financial controls, operational processes, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  3. Relationship Building and Collaboration:
    1. Establish strong working relationships with hospital management, fostering open communication and cooperation.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure audit findings are effectively addressed and corrective actions are implemented.
    3. Communicate audit results, observations, and recommendations to hospital management and senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  4. Audit Reporting and Follow-Up:
    1. Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, risks, and recommended actions for improvement.
    2. Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and provide follow-up to ensure issues are resolved effectively.
    3. Collaborate with hospital management to ensure ongoing compliance and process improvements.
  5. Travel and Audit Planning:
    1. Develop a travel plan to optimize audit schedules and minimize travel costs while ensuring each hospital is audited at least once every 24 months.
    2. Coordinate audit logistics, including travel arrangements, scheduling, and on-site arrangements.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Stay current with industry best practices, audit standards, and regulatory changes to enhance the effectiveness of the internal audit function.
    2. Continuously improve audit methodologies, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency and value.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFE, CPA) is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in internal audit, including experience in healthcare or nonprofit organizations.
  3. Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies, risk assessment, and control frameworks.
  4. Proven leadership experience, including team management and talent development.

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon - Pediatric Specialty Ethiopia | Medical

 

CURE International is seeking an experienced pediatric orthopedic spine surgeon who is interested in playing a critical role in the development of a first-of-its-kind operative spinal program at its hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are committed to finding the right person for this role; therefore, we will consider qualified candidates interested in either a full-time or part-time, flexible schedule. 

CURE is a faith-based non-profit organization operating a network of eight children’s hospitals throughout Africa and the Philippines. We provide world-class surgical care and intentional spiritual care to children living with treatable disabilities, all of which is free of charge to the patients and their families. 

The pediatric orthopedic spine surgeon will contribute to the important work of transforming the lives of many children who would otherwise face a lifetime of disability, pain and discrimination. We are seeking a missionally-aligned spine specialist who will embrace this unique opportunity and who possesses a desire to train the next generation of spine specialists in Ethiopia. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assess patients with musculoskeletal disability, taking and recording a salient history, examination and formulating an appropriate management plan including relevant investigations and surgical or non-operative management.
  2. Diagnose and treat spinal disorders, identifying ways to preserve pain-free function through treatment and surgical intervention.
  3. Participate in traveling to mobile clinics in different parts of the country as organized by the hospital and assigned to by the head of orthopedics.
  4. Treat patients and families with care and respect, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics.
  5. When surgical management is appropriate, undertaking careful consent, clarifying to the patient (where appropriate) and family member the nature of the condition and procedure that is advised, the risks, possible alternatives and nature of anesthesia required.
  6. Create pre-operative plans for each surgery, and where necessary, discuss with colleagues the surgical plans.
  7. Provide a high standard of surgical care, adhering to the highest standards of sterile operative technique while creating a cohesive team environment centered on safety and quality care.
  8. Record each step of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record and/or inpatient paper charts.
  9. Recognize complications that arise and respond appropriately, including discussing the event with the Medical Director and reporting it in the quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  10. Ensure a high level of patient and staff safety is upheld at all times.
  11. Participate actively in the training activities of the hospital and willingly engage in quality improvement projects, audit and research.
  12. Be instrumental in developing the spine service at CURE Ethiopia that is safe and sustainable with training an integral part of the practice.
  13. Actively participate in the development of a Spine training program to include teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows.
  14. Collaborate with international institutions to further support the development of a spine program.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Medical degree from a qualified, recognized medical institution.
  2. Completed an accredited residency in orthopedic surgery.
  3. Completed a pediatric orthopedic fellowship with training in spinal surgery.
  4. Current and unrestricted medical license.
  5. At least 3 years experience in a private or hospital practice.
  6. Moderate ability with the English language required, fluency preferred.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across cultures and language barriers.
  8. Strong interest in teaching and training.
