Justin Narducci

President/CEO

Justin Narducci serves as the President and CEO of CURE International, one of the world’s largest pediatric surgical hospital networks. In this role, he leads the organization’s vision to provide specialized surgical care and intentional ministry support to children living with disabilities in some of the most underserved regions of the world.

Justin joined CURE in 2020 and brings more than 20 years of experience in Christian community health and development, much of it working across Africa. Throughout his career, he has remained deeply committed to restoring hope to children and families living in poverty by ensuring they receive high-quality health services and compassionate Christian care.

It’s a calling Justin first realized at 18 years old during a mission trip when he witnessed children scavenging for food beside birds and other animals at a trash dump. In that moment, he felt a clear conviction to dedicate his life to serving children in need, wherever they may be.

Justin is an experienced international executive who has led global operations for NGOs and corporations. He began his career at the Boeing Company, working with foreign governments on international finance and contracts—experience that now informs his ability to steward resources and relationships effectively in complex global environments.

Before joining CURE, he served for seven years as President/CEO of Lifewater International, a Christian community health and clean water nonprofit organization for disease prevention and health promotion. He led the organization through a period of expansion, from six employees to over 180, and saw more than a 300 percent growth in the number of people served.

“I really love bringing best practices in business, healthcare, and ministry to be efficient, to be effective, and to ultimately have the largest impact possible in the lives of the children and families we serve,” he says.

He holds a master of business administration in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s in business administration.

Justin serves as a board member for Christian Connections for International Health and as a member of both the High-Level Council for the Global Surgery Fund and the Governance Committee for the Chalmers Center for Economic Development.

He and his wife, Erin, have four children. Outside of his work, Justin enjoys traveling to unique places around the globe, playing golf, and being a dad.

Corné Blom

Chief Hospital Officer

Corné serves as Chief Hospital Officer for CURE International, overseeing the operations of CURE’s eight children’s hospitals across Africa and the Philippines. Working closely with hospital leaders, he helps ensure that children receive safe, excellent, Christ-centered care—from the moment they arrive at a CURE hospital through surgery, rehabilitation, and recovery. He also supports the growth and strengthening of hospital operations so that more children can receive life-changing surgical care each year.

Originally from the Netherlands, Corné began with CURE in 2024 after years of working in the healthcare missions field.

He is a trained Nurse Anesthetist who completed the Dutch Military Academy as a Medical Platoon Leader. Prior to joining CURE, he served with Mercy Ships for five years on board the Africa Mercy as an Operating Room Manager and Hospital Director, an experience he says gave him an education no classroom ever could. He then worked for years at the organization’s headquarters in Texas as Vice President of International Programs.

Serving those in great need has redefined Corné’s sense of purpose—especially after meeting Grace, a mother who carried her son for three days to find help. Though his condition was treatable, she had been told nothing could be done. When she learned he would finally receive surgery, she wept, having nearly lost hope.

“After that, I stopped thinking about global health as a professional field and started experiencing it as a personal mission,” he says. “CURE’s mission, restoring physical wholeness as an expression of Christ’s love, speaks directly to that.”

Although Corné says CURE’s mission to serve in some of the hardest-to-reach and most underserved regions of the world is not for the faint of heart, that’s precisely what makes it meaningful.

“I’ve come to believe that the difficulty is part of the calling, not a problem to be solved. It keeps us dependent on something larger than our own competence,” he says. “As Frederick Buechner writes, ‘The place where God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s hunger meet.’ For me, that intersection has a name—and it’s CURE.”

Corne is based at CURE’s hospital in Kenya. Outside of work, he enjoys competing in Spartan Ultra races, reading, taking family road trips, and gardening. Corné is married to Petra, and they have three children, Charlotte, Olivia, and Lukas.

Jeff Broene

Chief Financial Officer

Jeff serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at CURE International. With over two decades of experience in finance, accounting, and executive leadership, he oversees financial operations, accountability reporting, risk management, and resource stewardship across CURE’s global network of pediatric surgical hospitals.

Jeff most recently served as CFO for a group of three affiliated manufacturing and distribution companies, Novo Building Products, Mid-Am Building Supply, and Woolf Distributing, totaling 1,500 employees across 20 facilities in the United States. In that role, he managed the annual budget process and oversaw accounting, finance, tax, legal, IT, payroll, business intelligence, and strategic pricing. Prior to that, he spent eight years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“I am honored to serve with CURE International and support a mission that brings hope and healing to children and families around the world,” Jeff says. “CURE’s commitment to excellent surgical care, compassionate service, and gospel-centered ministry is deeply meaningful. I look forward to partnering with leaders across the organization to ensure CURE’s financial stewardship and advance this life-changing work.”

Jeff’s connection to CURE stems back to 2007 when he met his wife, Erin, a pediatric nurse practitioner who spent a few weeks at a CURE hospital helping with surgeries. Then over the years, as he and Erin connected more closely with the mission, the seed was planted in his mind that he would like to serve professionally at CURE one day.

“Now, today, I’m using the experiences God has given me in a way that more directly aligns with his kingdom,” he says, which inspires him in his work. He sees it as a purposeful way to live out God’s Word as explained in Ephesians 2:10: “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (ESV).

Jeff holds a master of science in accountancy and a bachelor of business administration in accounting, both from Western Michigan University. He serves as treasurer and deacon at Fourth Reformed Church and sits on the board of directors of All Belong, a nonprofit supporting inclusive education for students with disabilities at Christ-centered schools.

Outside of serving CURE, he enjoys reading, hiking, coaching hockey, and spending time with Erin and their four children.

Elly Chemey

Chief of Staff

Elly serves as CURE International’s Chief of Staff, partnering closely with the President and CEO to advance the organization’s strategic priorities. He helps ensure that CURE’s most important initiatives remain aligned, coordinated, and moving forward across its global network.

Elly trained and practiced as a clinician in Malawi before earning his bachelor’s degree in HIV/AIDS management from the International University of Management (Namibia). Later, he obtained graduate degrees from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and United States International University (Kenya).

Originally from Kenya, Elly worked for various mission organizations and NGOs for 17 years before joining CURE, including Child Legacy International, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Catholic Health Commission, and Trinity Mission Hospital.

These experiences have shaped how he thinks about healthcare and service in Christ’s name. “Our work isn’t just about surgical outcomes. It’s about how a child and their family are treated with dignity throughout the entire process,” he says.

Prior to his current role, Elly served as CURE’s Senior Director of Programs and the Executive Director at CURE Malawi. He spent four years building systems that helped the hospital more than double the number of children it serves per year. He also helped initiate a partnership with Word Vision International (WVI) to support patient transportation, which cut the no-show rate significantly within a year.

During his time with CURE, he has been greatly impacted by the families whose lives have been completely transformed through surgery. “I saw firsthand how a single surgery or intervention could completely restructure someone’s life—not just physically, but socially and emotionally,” he says. “A child who’d been isolated because of a visible disability could suddenly go to school without stares, play with other kids, and be seen as himself rather than his condition first.”

He loves CURE’s mission and remains dedicated to improving care for people who are often forgotten or failed by systems that are meant to help them. “Healing is never just clinical. It’s relational,” he shared. “I’m proud to be part of an organization where the goal isn’t simply treating a condition, but restoring a person’s place in their family and community.”

Elly and his wife, Maggie (a registered nurse and intellectual property expert), have two sons, Ethan and Keagan.

Dave Helman

Chief Operating Officer

Dave Helman serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at CURE International. He is the senior leader responsible for driving operational excellence across the global hospital network, overseeing facilities, supply chain, finance and accounting, and technology. In other words, he ensures CURE hospitals have what they need to stay focused on the core mission: healing the sick and proclaiming the kingdom of God.

In 2013, he joined CURE as the Manager of Financial Reporting and was promoted to Director of Finance in 2017 and Chief Financial Officer in 2020—a role he served in until becoming Chief Operating Officer in January 2026. Before serving with CURE, Dave worked in public accounting as an auditor specializing in nonprofit organizations and became a certified public accountant (CPA).

Growing up, a career in finance was not exactly in Dave’s plans. After watching the Robin Williams classic Patch Adams, he was originally focused on becoming a pediatrician. But God had different plans for him once he got to college at Messiah University, where he ended up studying accounting and finance. “I love how God brought that passion to help kids in need full circle and led me back into a healthcare ministry serving children,” he says.

The impactful experiences Dave has had at CURE hospitals serve as the motivating backdrop for the decisions he makes as COO. Shortly after beginning with CURE, he visited our hospital in Niger, a conflict-ridden country plagued by extreme poverty and minimal healthcare options, where he was deeply moved by the hopefulness as kids were transformed through specialized surgery and the gospel message.

“That experience shaped the way I think about my work. Finance, systems, and operational support are not just administrative functions. They are part of what makes ministry possible.”

Throughout his time with CURE, Dave is proud to have helped strengthen several areas essential to CURE’s long-term effectiveness, including accounting, internal control, budgeting, and operational processes. This work directly supports CURE’s Christ-centered care. “Strong financial stewardship helps ensure that resources are used wisely, hospitals are supported well, and more children can receive the care they need,” he says.

Dave and his wife, Laura, live in Grand Rapids and enjoy playing games, visiting local coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family.

Rev. Earnest Kioko

Chief Ministry Officer

Rev. Earnest Kioko serves as Chief Ministry Officer for CURE International, where he oversees the ministry operations of CURE’s network of children’s hospitals. Earnest provides leadership for strategic ministry planning, oversees the evangelism and discipleship of the families we serve, supports the spiritual formation of staff, and ensures ministry activities align with established policies and practices.

It’s a role he feels deeply privileged to serve in. “It is both a responsibility and a calling—to help ensure that every child who comes to CURE not only receives surgical care but also experiences the transforming love of Christ,” he says.

Until late 2023, Earnest served as Head of Spiritual Ministry at CURE International, and prior to that, he was the Spiritual Director of CURE Kenya. He joined CURE Kenya immediately after completing his theological studies at Scott Christian University in July 2005 and served in various roles—including Chaplain, Clubfoot Counseling Coordinator, and Assistant Spiritual Director—until transitioning to Spiritual Director in 2015.

Throughout his time with CURE, Earnest has been deeply moved and inspired by the resilient children and families he’s met. “Seeing not only their physical need but also the emotional and spiritual burden they carried stirred a deep conviction in me,” he says. “Serving them is not just about medical care, but about restoring dignity and hope.”

Collaborating closely with CURE’s global teams across Africa and the Philippines, as well as hospital leaders and ministry staff worldwide, has been central to his role. These collaborations have helped strengthen the integration of spiritual ministry with the world-class clinical care CURE is known for. “These experiences now inform my role by guiding how I support hospital ministry teams to implement ministry programs that are culturally sensitive, biblically grounded, and aligned with CURE’s mission of holistic healing,” he says.

Earnest is a lifelong learner and is always seeking new growth opportunities. An ordained reverend with Africa Inland Church–Kenya, he also holds a master of science in organizational development from United States International University-Africa and is pursing a PhD in theology and development from Africa International University-Kenya.

He is married to Winfred, a high school teacher, and they are blessed with three daughters—Ruth, Blessings, and Angel.

Dr. Giorgio Lastroni

Chief Medical Officer

Giorgio Lastroni serves as CURE’s Chief Medical Officer, working closely with the medical directors at each of our eight hospitals. He provides strategic and clinical leadership across every aspect of patient care—from nursing and anesthesia to surgery and essential support services—ensuring CURE consistently delivers safe, world-class healthcare to children and families in great need.

Dr. Lastroni began his work with CURE International when he moved to Zambia in 2009 and volunteered as an Orthopedic Surgeon at the hospital in Lusaka. For 14 years, he brought hope and healing to children as an Orthopedic Surgeon and later as Medical Director of CURE Zambia. He assumed his current role as Chief Medical Officer in October 2024.

As a leader in the CURE network, his influence reaches far, but his heart remains grounded in service. “I am there not to be the boss,” he says, “but to be the helper, the servant of my colleagues.”

Originally from Italy, Dr. Lastroni completed postgraduate training in orthopedics at the Institute for Orthopedics at Milan University and was a visiting fellow at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2001, he spent time in Uganda helping establish one of the first Ponseti clubfoot projects in underserved regions. These early experiences caused something deep to take root—a calling to help children in under-resourced areas of the world.

That calling continues to guide him. He has seen firsthand the profound impact of combining clinical excellence with genuine compassion—how lives change when children are not only healed physically, but cared for emotionally and spiritually. He is especially grateful for the outstanding work CURE does, which sets an important example of quality care in countries where healthcare is often lacking or inaccessible.

“It’s great to share with national doctors, nurses, and medical practitioners, because they realize that it is possible to offer compassionate, high-standard care in extremely difficult contexts,” he says.

After nearly two decades of service, Dr. Lastroni remains committed to excellence and growing the impact of CURE’s mission well into the future. “I’m still absolutely blown away every day by the work that we do here,” he says, “and I believe God will continue to use this organization to serve more children in an even greater way in the years to come.”

Dr. Lastroni lives in Lusaka with his wife, and they have one college-aged son. Outside of work, he’s a semi-professional guitarist who loves playing soccer, doing pilates, and hiking.

Trish Moore

Chief Human Resources Officer

Trish serves as CURE’s Chief Human Resources Officer, overseeing people and culture strategy, recruitment, talent development, and workforce planning across our global network of pediatric surgical hospitals.

Trish began with CURE in 2026, bringing a deep sense of compassion and purpose to her role and ensuring that those who care for the children we serve are supported, valued, and equipped to thrive.

“I’ve been a leader of teams and communities for the last 20 years of my career, and this is one of the things I love most about my work—enabling people to be at their best within a respectful and joyful working environment,” says Trish.

From her early days as a Girl Scout, Trish was driven by a desire to serve others—a calling that ultimately shaped her career in human resources. She holds an MBA from the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business and a bachelor of commerce in management of organizations and human resources from the University of Calgary.

Over the past two decades, she has led large, complex organizations through transformation while strengthening employee engagement, leadership capability, and organizational performance.

Before joining CURE, Trish served as Vice President of Human Resources North America at Shell, where she led HR strategy and operations for 19,000 employees across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Argentina. Her international experience—having lived and worked in five countries—has given her a deep appreciation for the diverse perspectives and experiences that people bring to their work.

Trish says she is honored to support a hope-filled mission that changes the lives of children and their families. “CURE’s commitment to excellence, compassion, and faith-centered care is deeply inspiring. I look forward to partnering with leaders across the organization to strengthen our global workforce and advance this life-changing work.”

Trish and her husband, Scott McDonald, have been married for more than 30 years and live in Alberta, Calgary, Canada. Together, they serve in their local church and seek ways to support efforts for clean water, education, crisis relief, and homeless families. Outside of work, Trish enjoys traveling, hiking, and snorkeling.

Christi Huizenga Renaud

Chief Donor Relations Officer

Christi serves as Chief Donor Relations Officer, playing a pivotal role in advancing CURE’s mission to reach more children with Jesus’s love and life-changing surgical care. She fosters and sustains deep connections with supporters and partners to further this important work.

Christi’s passion for nonprofit work began when she witnessed a leader in her high school youth group leave to work for an international health-focused NGO—an experience she calls life-changing. “I remember being amazed that you could have a job that helps people globally and deciding on the spot that I wanted to spend my career doing exactly that,” she says.

From there, she shaped her future with the goal of international nonprofit work in mind, earning her undergraduate degree in business communications and international development from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.

She also eagerly sought out hands-on global experiences, including studying abroad in Honduras, before beginning her professional career with international nonprofits. Having visited 25 countries and lived in Africa, India, and Latin America, Christi brings an understanding of varied experiences from many different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds to her service.

“I’ve worked across many different themes in jobs that help people in great need: economic development, environmental restoration, anti-human trafficking and human rights, and now access to surgical care for children,” she says. “It’s really clear how all those things fit together.”

Before joining CURE in March 2025, Christi served as Vice President of Marketing and Development at Plant With Purpose, where she led fundraising efforts to combat poverty, reverse deforestation, and promote spiritual renewal worldwide.

Her leadership and expertise align seamlessly with CURE’s ongoing mission to make a lasting, transformational impact on children in need.

“What we do at CURE is a shocking form of generosity. In the context where we work, the gift that we give children is so big that it’s beyond imagination,” she says. “Offering something so extravagant at no cost to families and in the name of Jesus is profound. Jesus did this same thing, in a very similar context, so being a part of CURE allows us all to see Jesus in a special way.”

Christi is grateful to be with CURE, helping to fuel improvements in the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of children around the world.
