CURE International Partners with 104.9 The River to Increase Awareness of Global Shortage of Pediatric Surgical Care

News | 11 Oct 2023

Josh Hooper, radio host at 104.9 The River, meets with past patient Cynthia at CURE Uganda in Mbale.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – October 11, 2023: CURE International, a Christian nonprofit organization that operates a global network of children’s hospitals, has partnered with 104.9 The River, a Christian music station broadcasting in Columbus, OH, to increase awareness of CURE’s impact worldwide.

This year-long partnership will allow CURE to share impact stories from their eight hospitals across Africa and the Philippines through various mediums, including radio broadcasts, live interviews, online and email marketing, and in-person events such as concerts and conferences.

“CURE is blessed with the opportunity to share news of our global impact with the listeners of 104.9 The River,” said Justin Narducci, President / CEO of CURE International. “I am grateful to the talented and compassionate DJs at The River who are helping us expand surgical capacity for God’s children in desperate need of medical care.”

To gain a first-hand understanding of CURE hospitals’ tremendous impact on the lives of children worldwide, on-air personality Josh Hooper from 104.9 The River visited CURE Uganda this August. He met with patients and hospital staff as they toured the operating rooms, intensive care unit, patient ward, and chapel.

“I am thrilled to partner with CURE and all they’re doing throughout the world,” said Josh Hooper. “They’re sharing Jesus in a tangible and undeniable way, and it’s an amazing opportunity for 104.9 The River and our listeners to be a part of miracles happening every day!”

River Radio Ministries (RRM) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that owns 104.9 The River (Columbus), 89.3 The River (Newark & Chillicothe), 90.9 The River (Lancaster), and LoveCbus. Founded in 1965, RRM shares the gospel and encourages its listeners through its radio ministry.

This new partnership between CURE and 104.9 The River expands their existing partnership, which has raised awareness and funds for CURE’s operations for many years.
