Anesthesiologist Talent Pipeline United States | Medical

CURE International is continually building a pipeline of qualified Anesthesiologists who may be interested in serving at one of our pediatric specialty hospitals in the future. While this posting does not represent a specific job opening, we welcome the chance to connect with skilled, mission-minded professionals as needs arise across our network.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Anesthesiologist is responsible for providing anesthesia for the patients requiring surgical intervention in the hospital. In this capacity, the anesthesiologist will also need to oversee the nurse anesthetists or anesthetic officers. The role of the anesthesiologist will also include oversight of the HDU/ICU and any critically ill patient on the ward. The anesthesiologist will review all codes in the hospital and oversee the debrief. Sub speciality expertise in pediatric anesthesia is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Complete and document preoperative anesthesia evaluations of patients and order necessary lab work/consultation or any other preoperative investigations at least the day prior to surgery.
  2. Review preoperative patient charts for pertinent lab work, history and physical examination, vital signs chart, fluid status and medication sheet.
  3. Choose the safest and most appropriate anesthetic for the patient: general, regional, MAC, local or combination and utilize the correct monitors for that anesthetic for the duration of the surgery.  Manage the patient airway adequately utilizing the mask, bag-valve mask, intubation, LMA, and other emergency airway procedures. 
  4. Accurately manage fluid resuscitation in the patient and measure blood loss regularly. 
  5. Oversee the safe functioning of the anesthesia machine, oxygen supply, suction, and all equipment necessary to provide anesthesia in close consultation with the biomedical team.  
  6. Perform various regional anesthesia techniques as required.  
  7. Assess and implement pain management in the post operative recovery period.
  8. Identify and treat intra operative & post operative anesthesia complications as soon as they occur..
  9. Accurately and thoroughly chart patient physiological data, medications & fluids administered contemporaneously pre, intra, and post operatively.
  10. Set up all necessary monitors and drugs, and check the anesthesia machine and oxygen supply prior to each anesthetic.  
  11. Read and comply with all network anesthesia guidelines and SOPs.
  12. Seek opportunities to teach staff both clinically and didactically with regards to advanced life support, anesthesia, & pain management.
  13. Protect the patient from harm utilizing proper positioning techniques and act as an advocate for the patient’s welfare.
  14. Maintain competency of anesthesia practice in accordance with professional standards established by the profession.
  15. Participate in resuscitation of patients when required.
  16. Oversee the maintenance of an accurate narcotic count and supply in the operating room and post-anesthesia care unit.
  17. Oversee work of the Anesthesia Technicians/nurses/officers or other assigned employees.  
  18. Ensure adequate restocking of anesthesia supplies by supervising the Anesthesia Technicians or other assigned employees.
  19. Report to the Medical Director at any time when it appears to be unsafe to use the operating rooms (e.g. lack of oxygen).
  20. Act as an anesthesia consultant to anesthesia providers and medical/surgical staff.
  21. Complete monthly CQI electronic report per the direction of the Nursing/Anesthesia Clinical Director.

Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Talent Pipeline United States | Medical

CURE International is continually building a pipeline of qualified Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons who may be interested in serving at one of our pediatric specialty hospitals in the future. While this posting does not represent an active job opening, we welcome the chance to connect with skilled, mission-minded professionals as needs arise across our network.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The pediatric orthopedic surgeon is a specialist in pediatric orthopedic surgery and continues to further develop their expertise in this subspecialty. This individual is confident in the assessment and management of children with a range of musculoskeletal pathology. Operating under the guidance of fellowship-trained faculty, the pediatric orthopedic surgeon provides excellent surgical care to patients and ensures a high-level of safety for both patients and staff, adhering to all the quality standards of CURE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Assess patients with musculoskeletal disability, taking and recording a salient history, examination and formulating an appropriate management plan including relevant investigations and surgical or non-operative management.
  2. Participate in traveling to mobile clinics in different parts of the country as organized by the hospital and assigned to by the head of orthopedics.
  3. Treat patients and families with care and respect, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics.
  4. When surgical management is appropriate, undertaking careful consent, clarifying to the patient (where appropriate) and family member the nature of the procedure that is advised, the risks, possible alternatives and nature of anesthesia required.
  5. Create pre-operative plans for each surgery, discussing with fellow faculty members the surgical plans.
  6. Provide a high standard of surgical care, adhering to the highest standards of sterile operative technique while creating a cohesive team environment centered on safety and quality care.
  7. Record each step of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record and inpatient paper charts.
  8. Recognize complications that arise and respond appropriately, including discussing the event with the Medical Director and reporting it in the quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  9. Ensure a high level of patient and staff safety is upheld at all times.
  10. Participate actively in the training activities of the hospital and willingly engage in quality improvement projects, audit and research.
  11. Update surgical techniques, instrumentation and implants dedicated to pediatric orthopedic surgery.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Kenya | Medical

The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon is responsible for adhering to the quality standards of CURE as they provide hands-on surgical care to our patients. The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon is also responsible for teaching and training on the principles and techniques of plastic and reconstructive surgical care to other physicians who may be training at the hospital and oversees the practice of surgery by these physicians. This individual is charged with facilitating improvement in the quality of care, education and administration of the plastic and reconstructive surgery department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Prepare and review case histories and obtain data through evaluation of patients and consult with family members. 
  2. Examine patients, determine need for clinical laboratory tests and interpret examination findings and test results.
  3. Prescribe appropriate plastic and reconstructive surgical treatments based on findings and results.   
  4. Determine procedures for preoperative and postoperative care, including the administration of sedatives, prescription of diets and preparation of the patient’s operative area. 
  5. Apply surgical procedures and coordinate operations with the anesthesiologist.  
  6. Treat patients suffering from surgical shock, postoperative hemorrhage and other complications.
