CURE and GMHC: Advancing God’s Kingdom Through Medical Missions
CURE’s network of eight hospitals across Africa and the Philippines are places of hope for children with treatable but life-limiting disabilities and their families.
Many of these children are ostracized in their communities because of their disabilities. But CURE’s highly skilled staff is dedicated to changing their lives forever through surgery while supporting them and their caregivers with prayer and counseling. At CURE, these young patients and their families learn that they are loved by God and worthy of care.
Equipping the Church
CURE works to extend this care outside our hospital walls by training local pastors and lay leaders on a scriptural view of disability—that all children, regardless of ability, are created in God’s image and worthy of respect.
Through our Theology of Disability training, we equip pastors, church leaders, and communities to show love and compassion for those with disabilities, challenging misconceptions and empowering the church to be a voice for the marginalized.
Partnering for God’s Kingdom
To better help the kids in our care while strengthening and advancing global health mission work, CURE partners with the Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC), the largest medical missions conference in the US.
At GMHC, medical professionals from around the world gather to share their knowledge and meet others who are passionate about combining their healthcare experience with their passion to serve God’s kingdom. Through our partnership with GMHC, CURE identifies and connects with the next generation of healthcare workers who will serve with us to treat children made vulnerable by disability.
For healthcare professionals, such as those at GMHC, an understanding of the Theology of Disability is transformative. It equips them as they integrate their profession with their faith in God and learn how to respond compassionately and effectively to the unique needs of those living with disabilities.
