Jerry is the Founder and Chairman of Buttonwood Capital Management. Prior to establishing Buttonwood, Jerry was the founder and CEO of Ottawa Avenue Private Capital, a registered investment advisory firm that manages investment capital for a small group of high-net-worth families. Jerry was also CEO of RDV Corporation, a full-service, multi-generational family office that he established in 1991 to serve the comprehensive wealth management needs of five related families.

Jerry began his career with Deloitte & Touche in 1976, serving in Chicago and the firm’s Brussels, Belgium, offices, and was Managing Partner of the Grand Rapids office from 1987–1991.  He was a member of the firm’s Managing Partners Advisory Council, and left Deloitte in 1991 to establish RDV Corporation.

Jerry earned his master’s in tax law from DePaul University and his undergraduate degree in business administration from Western Michigan University. He is a certified public accountant.

Jerry serves on several private equity fund advisory boards throughout North America and Europe. He was appointed by the Governor of Michigan to serve on the State of Michigan’s Pension Investment Advisory Board, which oversees more than $75 billion in investment assets.

He represented the Orlando Magic on the NBA Board of Governors for 15 years, and now serves as its Alternate Governor.  Jerry and his wife, Marcy, have eight children (including three sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law) and twelve grandchildren. They enjoy travel, golf, and racquet sports.
