
Fred Bw’Ombongi

A native Kenyan, Fred Bw’Ombongi is Vice President of Operations at Allina Health. Prior to that, he served as Division Director and Interim Vice President of Operations at KentuckyOne Health and is the former System Director at Corewell (formerly Spectrum) Health.
In addition to his work with CURE International, he is co-founder and Board Chair of Opening Village Doors Foundation, an organization that fights poverty through business start-ups and student scholarships in Kenya. He co-founded and served as Board Chair with the Refugee Education Center in West Michigan. And, he serves on the board of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota.
Fred is the recipient of the Henry Dunant Global Impact Award by the American Red Cross of Greater West Michigan and the Community Champion Award by the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. He was featured on the 40 Under 40 list by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2014.
Fred earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in international business from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fred is a Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota.
