“She has stopped going to school because of pain, she can't walk,” shared Judith, mother to Patricia.

In the recent past, Judith has been engulfed with the fear of her daughter losing her leg due to an infection on her right knee, “I'm scared that if she continues like this, her leg can be amputated, that thought is troubling,” says Judith with emotion. Earlier this year, Patience started complaining of pain on her leg and at first it was brushed off as it was not considered to be severe, however the days that followed, the pain became a nightmare. “At night, for her to at least sleep, someone has to hold her knee the whole night that’s how she will sleep, the moment the hands are off she starts crying because of the pain,” shared Judith.

Patricia was taken to a local nearby clinic were was referred to a bigger hospital in the district. She was admitted in the hospital and they removed pus from her leg. After she improved, she was discharged. However the improvement was temporal, a few days later her knee became swollen and it started oozing pus again. Patience was taken to the hospital again, however the hospital assured them that she would get better with time and no procedure was done, only some medicines were prescribed for her.

Judith started running out patience seeing her daughter in pain day and night to an existent that she started failing to walk, even stopped going to school. They desperately started looking for alternatives. Thankfully through a neighbor they got word about CURE Zambia. They have come and Patience is about to start treatment!

Patience went to the operating room! In the operating room, they created an opening near the knee and used that opening to clean and remove the infection from her leg. This went very well and will give her some relief from the pain she has been experiencing. Please continue to pray for this girl! Photo of Patience
