“What has been worrying is that if he grows like this he my blame us that we neglected him” shares Edward father to Clinton.

Clinton’s condition began about 2 years ago, his father Edward suspects that he fell down when he was playing with friends that's what triggered his knocked knee, “I suspect that he had fallen down whilst playing with his friends because we notice that he suddenly started limping and the limping persisted for a number of days. We took him to the hospital and they gave him a pain killer that was the only treatment he got,” narrates Edward. Few months later his right leg started bending inwardly. At first it did not concern the parents that much because it was not severe. However over the years his leg has gotten severe and says the last 2 months have been worse, the degree of the bending has really gotten worse.

Edward has a sister who is a nurse in the northern part of the country where they come from, when she saw Clinton she told Edward that there will be a team of specialists that they will be visiting from the CURE Zambia to conduct an orthopaedic screening for children and identify those with treatable disabilities. Few weeks later the team visited and Clinton was seen and booked to come for surgery this year. Edward hopes that when his 12 years son is fully healed he can enrol him in school and begin his grade one, Edward is also excited that they are finally here CURE Zambia, “I am very happy and thankful that we here and my son is about to receive treatment, because I didn’t know what to do with him. I am also thankful to my sister who directed us to you [CURE Zambia]. I am putting everything in God’s hand and praying for the ones working on him because it is not easy.”

Clinton was prescribed crutches. As a way of training him how to walk with crutches, our physical therapist had him practice on the parallel bars, which are more stable. We are happy that he is doing very well, and know that he will pick up walking with crutches with ease! Photo of Clinton
