"It's been a long journey," Angela shared as she concluded her story.
Angela is a 22 year old single mom who has two kids that both have clubfoot. She came to CURE with her little ones last week, for the very first time. She says it has been a long journey to get to CURE. She has gone through pain and suffering, from her husband leaving her to getting almost no support from her own family, Angela has had to go through this process to get her kids help all by herself. She is thankful to finally be at CURE where her kids will both get help for their clubfoot. Margarete and her brother Rodrick both had their first casts put on and are scheduled for more in the coming weeks. They have all settled in well. Angela understands that she may be in the ward for a while, but she is ready because for the first time in a really long time, there is a glimmer of hope.
Please be praying for Angela and her kids, for continued hope and restoration as they embark on this life changing journey of healing.
Rodrick, Margarete's brother, went into surgery today for a tenotomy procedure. He hasn't cried much and keeps sleeping and waking up and then sleeping again. His mom Angela and her friends are all sitting comfortably by his bed, entertaining themselves as as they keep watch over him. Please keep these sweet siblings in your prayers for healing!
Angela and her kids are doing well! Margarete has left the hospital with a relative just to get a change of scenery while her mom, Angela, and her brother stayed in the hospital as Rodrick needs to keep getting his casts changed. Margarete has continued to wear her braces and she is doing well in them. Please be praying for Margarete and her brother as they keep making progress in their healing journeys respectively.
Margarete is doing well today. She is totally a pro at wearing her braces now and its only been 2 days since she got them. Here in the photo she's just hanging out by herself sucking her lollipop. Her brother is also doing well and he has a new pair of casts on. This means that Margarete, Rodrick and Angela will have to stay in the ward a little longer. Please be praying for them, and especially for Margarete as she keeps making great progress in her healing journey.
Margarete, her brother, and her mom came back to CURE yesterday for a check up. Margarete is doing so well- she has achieved braces today! Hooray! This means progress. She was happy to get her braces, which to her seems just like getting a new pair of shoes. Who doesn’t like getting a new pair of shoes, right? Margretes brother Rodrick is doing well although his progress is much slower than his sister. Ian the physiotherapist almost gave him braces but decided against it because he feels Rodrick needs one more cast before he can get braces. All in all, everyone is doing well and they are happy. Please be praying for Rodrick and Margrete and their mom as they keep making milestones in this healing journey.
Margarete had a cast change scheduled for today and here she relaxing in her wheelchair and posing for a photo. One of the more significant things that happen to our kids as they spend more time in the hospital is how they change from being shy, timid, and ashamed to being strong and confident. God is up to something in the lives of these kids and we are confident that everything that happens, happens at the time of His choosing!
Margarete is going to be in hospital for a little while longer and she will have an MUA on Tuesday. This also means more days of love, laughter and learning in the playroom! Please continue praying with us!
Margarete's sleep time look is so cute! Thank you for all your prayers so far. She hasn't been discharged today because the doctors decided to monitor her a little while longer. Long enough to receive more hugs and kisses from all of us!
It has often been said that 'good things come to those who wait'. This couldn't be any truer than in the life of Margrete. She has had to wait for all good things, including her surgery. The good news is that that has been done and we are anticipating good results. The better news is that she might be going home tomorrow! This is an encouragement to all of us to - "Count it all joy when we meet trials of various kinds for we know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance. And we must let perseverance have its full effect, so that we may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing," according to James 1:2-4. Hallelujah!
Margrete's surgery went well today! She is now resting in the ward, recovering from it. We are thankful for your love and prayers! "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
Our doctors saw Margrete's feet last week after the casts were removed on Friday and they have decided to schedule her for surgery tomorrow for a posterior medial release (PMR). Angela is happy about this news and she says there is nothing she wouldn't do to see her kids' feet straight. Please continue praying for our cuties!
Margrete and her brother's cast changes were rescheduled so they still have their old casts on. Our cuties spent their day with their mother today and it's amazing how she manages to carry both of them at the same time! We caught Margrete sitting on her own, looking cute after being carried for the most part of the day. Let's keep praying for these babies!
The resemblance Margrete has to her mother is very striking! It's easy to tell that Angela is raising her kids to be just like she is, courageous and strong. Life will beat us down sometimes, but we have to get up and rely on God's strength to do all we can to be better. Angela would have given up on her kids, but she didn't. She has soldiered on and persevered with them through their clubfoot journey. God bless all the mothers out there!
Margrete's casts are due for a change tomorrow. Our doctor says he will decide tomorrow whether to recast or to schedule her for further surgery depending on whether there is improvement yet or not. Thank you for your prayers and God bless!
Margarete is having a good day today. Both she and her brother went to our Out Patient Department today so that they could get their casts changed. They are both making good progress with their feet. Here in this picture, they just had their casts removed, and are all hanging out while they wait to get casts reapplied. Please be praying for Margarete and her brother Rodrick as they keep making daily progress toward healing!
Margarete is having a good day! When she first came to CURE, she seemed withdrawn and a little scared, but today she looks happy and is smiling, especially after she ate! It is not unusual for the families we serve to struggle with having enough to eat, and that's why providing nutritious meals to our patients is so important. They can't heal if they're hungry. Here, Margarete just had her breakfast and she couldn’t be happier! Please join us in praying for Margarete and her family! We invite you to partner with us as we offer physical and spiritual healing to this sweet family.
This is one of the sweetest moments we have seen with these three! Angela carries both her babies to the playroom and gives Rodrick kisses while they wait! We are seeing hope in Angela’s eyes for Margarete and her for son Rodrick! Please be praying for these three. For physical healing, but also emotional and spiritual healing!
Margarete, and her family had a good weekend and they mostly stayed inside the ward trying to settle in. They came to CURE last week and both Margarete and her brother Rodrick had their first casts put on on Friday. Please be praying for both Margarete and Rodrick's healing!
