CURE in Philippines

The picture above is of CURE in Philippines. Everyone who serves with CURE in Philippines, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Kert. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Kert. When you give a gift through Kert's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Philippines. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Kert. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"I questioned God as to why my son was born this way. But then I realized maybe God has a plan," Perlita shares with us about her son, Kert.

Kert is a six year old boy with a chirpy voice. He make people go "awww" out of his cuteness. As a typical young boy, he loves to play with his friends and shoot hoops with Daddy Jonathan. He is the youngest child of Perlita and Jonathan and he has two older sisters named Karylle and Keisha. Aside from being the only boy, he is the only child who was born with clubfoot. "The doctors explained his condition to be hereditary although we don't know anyone who has the same condition. Others told us it was a "buyag", a folkloric belief that a witch must have afflicted a curse on him," Perlita explains.

Besides causing him pain and making it hard to walk, Kert's feet have made him a target for bullying among kids. This has affected his self-esteem. "He would sometimes don't want to be in a large crowd," Perlita shares. But with the help of a relative, Perlita was able to bring Kert to Tebow CURE, giving them a renewed sense of hope for a better future. Kert wishes to be able to wear shoes someday and this will now be made possible as you support him in his journey to becoming clubfoot-free!

Kert was silent the entire morning while waiting for his surgery since “he feels nervous,” Perlita told us. Patient Ministry Coordinator Mary Ann lifted him up in prayer and encouraged him that he will be asleep the whole time and the surgery will be over when he wakes up. Soon after he was sedated, the medical team moved and lengthened some of the tendons in Kert's feet to allow them to stretch and grow into the right position. As promised, his procedure didn’t take too long and he was back in the ward before he knew it. He enjoyed a nice meal of fried chicken and spaghetti from Jollibee - a famous Filipino fastfood chain - afterwards to celebrate another milestone in his healing journey! Since he only had a minor surgery, our doctors already cleared him for discharge to reduce the possible risk of infection and transmission in the hospital. We will see Kert again in six weeks! Thank you for your prayers! Photo of Kert

Kert has been visiting us weekly for five week to have his pre-surgery serial casting done. These progressive casts begin the straightening of his feet and help produce better healing. After all this, Kert is happy to be moving forward to the next stage of his treatment which is surgery! He underwent rapid COVID testing during admission to make sure that he is strong and healthy. After receiving the news that he and Perlita tested negative, Kert is now resting in the ward, mustering all the strength he needs for tomorrow’s OR visit. Please pray that they will experience peace and comfort as they await Kert’s surgery! Photo of Kert
