“Even though Princess walks on her knees, she’s quick to move! But we still think that it’s way better that she can actually walk on her feet, so she won’t be behind in school. She’s very interested to participate in school activities and has a lot of confidence in herself! Even though some think that she’s disabled, I definitely know that Princess is fully able,” said Elly, Princess’ mother.
Princess loves to sing and dance! If she were to get an award from all her school activities, we would sum her up as “Miss Congeniality.” She has the best personality and likes to socialize with people. Although Princess occasionally comes across bullies and people staring, we know that her life is about to unveil an inspiring story for the world to hear.
Elly gave us a preview of what happened in 2013 as she tells us an unfortunate story. “A candle caused the fire that burned down our house. Princess was in there and she was only a couple months old. Because of the heat, her skin melted. We were at a local hospital for one month and eight days. I thought she was okay when we got home, but as it got healed, her skin started to contract.”
Princess and her family are thankful to those who offered help during the accident. A few years later, she still needs treatment to release the contracted skin around her leg. When we met her at mobile clinic, we were able to show a glimpse of hope that her dreams of being able to walk will soon come into reality.
With your prayers and support, you can be a part of Princess healing! We pray for God’s hands on her journey as God unfolds her story!
We know it's been awhile since Princess came back but our field workers got in touch with her and encouraged her to come back for a follow-up. So when we saw her waiting in the lobby today, we were ecstatic as we caught her up with Get Well letters and a new splint! With some scar build up on her leg, we will have to schedule another surgery in the future, but nothing to worry about for now. In the meantime, she gets to enjoy school––attending all the school activities that she can! She will have another follow-up next year and we will decide when she comes back so we can maintain those wonderful straight legs! What a speedy recovery! Princess's bandages were unwrapped and she stood up today taking a few steps with some assistance! Princess' sweet smile never went away regardless of the pain that she went through for her healing process. The miracle that we get to witness, just like Princess' story, gives us joy to be a part of God's work! Thank you for being a part of that too and praying with us!
You're not a true princess unless you own a tiara. Princess felt like true royalty today after getting stellar treatment from Nurse Jhun during her dressing change. Although she's still not a big fan of it, she is just as forgiving as always. The good news is that she will not be wrapped up in a cast anymore, but will bring home a splint to help with healing. Princess goes home today but we will see her back in two weeks!
Princess' smile got brighter today which made Elly think that it was the perfect photo op moment with Storytellers Marlene and Hope Kim. This also means that Princess feels so much better! Each dressing change is a pain but she never ceases to let us know that she's thankful for all that we do! Thank you for praying with us!
Good news– Princess is back! But there's also a not-so-good-news, her legs are so infected that they had a tough time getting transportation into town because of the pungent smell that came from her casts. We are thankful that they made it to the hospital despite of all the bumps on the road that Princess and Elly went through. We were able to clean up the wound and change her dressing, which was painful to bear. But despite all of that, Princess still carries a smile on her face, which tells us that she's going to continue to push through this healing process with a positive attitude!
Look who’s ready to go home! Princess got a cute stuffed puppy from some visitors this morning, and a surgical glove from the nurses, and to be honest, she seemed equally excited about both of them! Princess got a green fiberglass wrap on her casts, perfect to get her in the Christmas spirit! We’ll see her back next month, but please remember to keep praying while she’s healing at home.
Superwoman strikes again! Princess had a cast change, dressing change, and hardware removed a few hours before this picture was taken, and she was already asking Ella for some art supplies so she could color. And, praise God, her skin grafts are holding and she’s healing well! Thanks so much for your ongoing prayers, we love being able to give such positive reports about this amazing little one!
Princess is back, and her spirits are as high as ever! We're so inspired by her upbeat attitude! With her casts on, she's not very mobile, but she was content to hang out in bed and play on her tablet. She has a dressing change tomorrow, which will be done under anesthesia. We'll get to find out if her skin grafts were successful, and check on how she's healing. It's a little nerve wracking, but we know God is in control, and with you, our prayer partners and supporters backing us, Princess has a huge cheering section!
We know that this young lady is definitely a Warrior Princess when we see her sweet smile during recovery. Post-op from a major surgery is never easy, but with great support, it's possible. Elly, our medical staff, and your encouragement, worked together to make Princess' healing as bearable as she hoped it would be. In her sweet little voice, she said, "I'm ready to go home today!" It won't be long until we see her back so we can keep an eye on her healing! So, stay tuned as you keep her in your prayers!
Most doctors will go their entire career without seeing a case like Princess’. Dr. Nesty was fortunate to have Dr. Tim to walk and talk him through the difficult process of releasing Princess’ burned legs. It’s such a rare case that Dr. Jun and Dr. Shelley had to pop in just to observe it all. Dr. Tim was excited to use our new skin graft machine, a gift from a donor. Christmas came early for him, and also for Princess, who will spend this year with straight legs at last!
