CURE in Niger

The picture above is of CURE in Niger. Everyone who serves with CURE in Niger, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Oumarou. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Oumarou. When you give a gift through Oumarou's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Niger. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Oumarou. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Oumarou has a hesitant happiness about him. After years of lagging behind the other boys his age, both metaphorically and literally, Oumarou has finally found the healing he needs! Oumarou was born with a knock knee, making walking a challenge as well as making him a topic of gossip in his tight knit neighborhood. For years he has struggled to make friends and wants nothing more than to run freely like the other children. Thankfully, one of Oumarou's uncles heard about us here at CURE Niger and, since we all live in the same city, decided to check us out on Oumarou's behalf. Gleefully, he shared the hope that we offer with Oumarou and within days, the family was here getting the pre-work done needed for Oumarou to have his surgery! We're so happy that we get to be a part of Oumarou's healing and we can wait to see the hesitance removed from his happiness!

Oumarou did indeed get discharged today. Evidently, he was so excited about it that he jetted out of here before we got a chance to say goodbye. We're glad everything has gone so well for this little man and can't wait to see him in a few weeks for his follow up appointment!

Our man Oumarou is out of surgery and doing great! He doesn't claim to be in any pain and is spending the day resting up before, hopefully, getting discharged tomorrow! Photo of Oumarou

Oumarou's surgery went exactly as planned yesterday. Praise the Lord! The doctors took a triangular wedge out of his femur which allowed them to essentially break his leg straight. Once they had the correct angle, Oumarou had some hardware install to keep his leg straight and then had the whole leg casted up nicely! Our man is back in the ward now, sleeping off the anesthesia. Please be praying with us that he recovers well as the next few days will be rather hard for him! Photo of Oumarou

Oumarou has been admitted to the ward and is just waiting for his surgery now. He's a little hesitant with his new surroundings, but his excitement about straightening his legs peaks through with a brilliant smile every now and again. We're so excited to have this guy with us! Photo of Oumarou
