CURE in Malawi

The picture above is of CURE in Malawi. Everyone who serves with CURE in Malawi, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Eliya. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Eliya. When you give a gift through Eliya's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Malawi. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Eliya. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Eliya's Story

"I had to convince my daughter to take Eliya to the hospital, Eliya's mother was so scared to take her son to a hospital because her friends told her that Eliya's arm will be cut off," Lute, the grandmother.

Eliya lives with his parents who do farming and local business. One day while Eliya was with his parents in the garden, there was a hole just near where Eliya was digging. Like any curious child, Eliya wanted to find out what was in the hole hence, he put his hand into the hole. Unfortunately, this boy was bitten on top of his wrist. "It felt like a needle has pierced my hand, but it was very painful," said Eliya. Eliya's mother was negatively influenced by her friends not to take her son to the hospital in fear that Eliya will lose his hand. "I knew there were some lies in what Eliya's mother was fearing, look today, we are here at CURE Malawi and I did not hear any of cutting off Eliya's arm," said Lute, grandmother.

This boy just started grade one last week! Lute, Eliya's granny, came to meet our CURE Malawi doctors last year in November where she was told to come this year with her grandson for surgery. This week, Eliya is receiving his treatment, and please keep both Eliya and his grandmother in your prayers.

Welcome Eliya! Eliya is our number two child to receive his surgery this year 2021 at CURE Malawi hospital! This young boy lives close to where CURE Malawi hospital is, and he is here with his lovely grandmother Lute (Ruth). Eliya is here because of his right arm. When he was little, he got bitten by what the doctors think was a snake which has caused him to develop contractures. Please join us in prayers and support as CURE doctors are taking Eliya into the surgery room! Photo of Eliya
