CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Malcah. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Malcah. When you give a gift through Malcah's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Malcah. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"My sister told me that the extra finger can be tied with a string and will fall off eventually," shares Malcah’s mom, Josephine.

Malcah was born with a polydactyly condition on her left hand. It is a condition in which a person is born with extra fingers or toes. Josephine, Malcah's mother, noticed Malcah’s extra finger when she was breastfeeding her at home two days after she was born. She was shocked and immediately called her sister. Josephine was told that the extra finger can be tied by a special string and would eventually fall off. Josephine, however, was not convinced. Determined to learn more, she went on the internet and came across the CURE hospital in Kenya.

"I just want to raise my daughter's self-esteem that has been brought low by the stares we get in public" Josephine adds. They took a while to get to CURE due to COVID-19 travel restrictions earlier this year. And though they waited for some time, we are glad that they made it to CURE!

Malcah and her mom, Josephine, were in the outpatient department area as the nurses finalized their discharge procedure. Josephine told us that she was glad that she learned about CURE online and will go ahead and share her experience with her friends and family. Malcah was finally discharged to continue her with recovery at home. "We truly appreciate the Get Well Messages you've sent us. I will share them one day with Malcah when she's old enough to understand them," said Josephine. Photo of Malcah

The nurse was noting down Malcah's vitals as her mother Josephine looked on. The results are positive, and Malcah's hand is recovering well. This is the first time she has been to a hospital and is slowly familiarizing herself with new people. We continue to pray for a seamless recovery for Malcah's hand. Photo of Malcah

Malcah's thumb duplicate will need to go through surgical procedure––the best treatment that our doctors recommend for her case. The extra thumb will be surgically removed while remaining thumb will be reconstructed using some of the parts from the amputated thumb to optimize function and appearance. We thank God for the positive progress in Malcah's surgery! Photo of Malcah
