What am I giving to?

CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Frances. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Frances. When you give a gift through Frances's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Frances. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“I don’t like it when my daughter comes home and tells me some children in school called her ‘kiwete’ (disabled one).” Levi, Frances’ dad, tells us with a frustration in his eyes.

Frances is a young girl who was born with very mild cerebral palsy (CP). When Levi was first told about his daughter’s CP, he couldn’t believe it. “I felt like the world didn’t like me and wanted to break me.” he told us.

As Frances has grown, she has done an incredible job stepping up to the challenges life has thrown at her. But one of the challenges she hasn't been able to overcome is a side effect of CP where her feet have slowly been forced into a permanent tip-top position. This condition makes it both difficult and painful to walk. While Levi can't protect Frances from everything in life, he was convinced to find Frances the best care possible for this condition. Levi's search eventually led him here to CURE Kenya. Finding us was a huge breakthrough for Levi and he thanks God for this opportunity to change his daughter’s story. “When I told Frances that we were coming to CURE for surgery, she was very happy. She is very ready for the ‘knife' (surgery)’’ Levi told us.

“I look forward to seeing my daughter walk properly and to put an end to the ‘kiwete’ name calling.” Levi told us with a huge smile on his face.
Please pray for Frances’ surgery to be successful!

We caught up with Frances and her dad doing some walking exercises today as they got ready to go home. We are very happy that Frances is already being discharged. It's always more fun and comfortable to heal up at home. We will see Frances at our mobile clinic near her home in a couple of weeks! Photo of Frances

Frances has had her surgery! The doctor explained that by releasing and transferring some tendons Frances' foot, the position of her foot was adjusted and eventually she will be able to put her foot completely flat on the floor. This will offer her a lot more stability! Frances is now back in the ward and we pray for her recovery. Photo of Frances

“Frances wants to be a Catholic sister (kind of like a nun) when she grows up and that is beautiful because I almost became a priest, but my mum didn’t consent as I am her only son and she wanted to have grandchildren.” Levi, Frances' father, explained to us as Frances got settled in the ward. Frances quickly made a friend with another patient. They bonded over their mutual fascination with mobile phone games. Please be praying for Frances as she gets ready for her surgery.
