CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Irene. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Irene. When you give a gift through Irene's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Irene. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"When she was 10 years old, Irene started to walk in a weird way. We thought she was just messing around, but it was only after she complained of pain that we got concerned." Irene's mum, Ruth, told us.

Irene never had any problem growing up until when she was in 4th grade. She came home and complained of discomfort in both ankles. It soon grew out of hand and Irene was taken to the hospital after the pain became too much to even make the walk to school. The hospital wasn't able to help and Irene went for years without treatment. In this time, her conditioned worsened and her feet began a slow curve inwards.

In 2018, our CURE Kenya mobile clinic team visited her town and Irene was able to be seen. We were able to start treating her with an AFO (ankle-foot orthotic) brace that worked to strengthen and align her ankle. She then received surgery on her right foot and after diligent post-op care and physical therapy, it is all healed! Irene has now returned to us to have her left foot corrected. She dreams of returning to school and becoming a business woman!

Ruth and her daughter Irene have been reading the Get Well messages that you sent their way. They were so carried away by the love and support that spoke through your messages. "We are humbled by such love from people we've never met. God has a way of connecting people. Thank you so much." Ruth shared as Irene smiled and leaned on her mother. Irene may be discharged during the weekend after completing physiotherapy and getting a final report from the doctors on her recovery progress. We really appreciate your continued prayers and support! Photo of Irene

Irene's surgery was a success! This picture was when Irene regained her strength after surgery. She was having a good chat with her mother Ruth. Irene is about to start her physiotherapy session for the day, so we can keep track of her progress. If her PT results go well, she will possibly be discharged soon to continue recovering at home. Dr. Nyambati and Dr. Agwatta prayed for Irene's procedure in the OR. Irene was so calm as the anesthetist prepared her for surgery. She's been here before, so we can see why she was confident. Let's continue praying for a successful procedure as we hope for Irene’s left foot to be corrected. When this is all done, Irene can finally walk and run better! Photo of Irene

We caught with Irene after her appointment with laboratory nurse for a few final checks before her upcoming procedure. "I am glad to be back here with my mum. You have helped me this far and I can't wait to get my final surgery." Irene shared with us. We kindly ask you to join us in prayer and support for Irene as her transformation continues!
