Pauline is 4 year old, jovial girl. But she was born with a challenging condition called knock knees where her legs are not straight, but bend inwards so her knees "knock" together as she walks. Pauline was born with this condition, but her mother didn't noticed until Pauline started walking around two years old. “I noticed an unusual bending of her left knee towards the right. I took her to a district hospital where she was given a pair of braces to straighten her legs however the deformity kept growing.” her mother Mercy told us

At 3 years old, the condition worsened and began to seriously affect Pauline's ability to walk. Thankfully, Mercy heard about our CURE Kenya doctors hosting a mobile clinic near their home where Pauline was seen and scheduled for surgery.

Mercy is excited to be here at CURE Kenya! She believes the surgery will be successful and that her daughter will soon walk well, just like other children!

Let's keep both Pauline and her mother in our prayers that the joy of the Lord will be their strength as they walk through this journey together.

So there was a bit of a surprise with Pauline's procedure. She did indeed do fine in the OR, but the doctors weren't able to straighten her leg as they had intended. When they opened up her leg, they ended up finding a tumor. They took a sample to send off for testing. Hopefully, it will come back benign and then we can continue with her treatment. We should have her results back in about two weeks and until then Pauline is going to go home and rest up. Please be praying for Pauline and her mum as they process this news and the delay. We really thank you so much for your prayers. Pauline's operation was a success. Glory to God! Her mother was a bit worried, but we assured her everything will be okay. This reminded us of what we do here at CURE Kenya. It's not just a work, but also encouraging and giving hope to the hopeless and through that we have seen the hand of God working miracles! Let's continue to pray for quick recovery for Pauline and for her mother's comfort and peace. Photo of Pauline

Pauline is ready for surgery and her mother is beyond doubt that the surgery will be successful. At first, Mercy (Pauline's mother) was anxious, but we encouraged her by sharing pictures of success stories of patients treated at CURE Kenya with Pauline's same condition. Her joy was restored and as we requested for your prayers about the joy of the Lord being their strength, indeed we witnessed this. Let's pray for Pauline that the surgery will be successful and that her smile will not fade as we continue to update you on her progress! Photo of Pauline
