We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Mercy. When you give a gift through Mercy's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “When she sees other kids wearing slippers, she desires that too. I would like for that to happen when she is healed,” Mama Mercy told us and it might have made us a bit teary.

One day as Mercy’s mum was cooking porridge, she got distracted a bit and in a split second she was met by Mercy’s cry at the top of her voice. She had spilled the hot porridge on her tiny feet. Mercy was one at the time.

Phoebe rushed little Mercy to the hospital immediately and they begun treating her wounds. Her burns got healed after a long time of dressing changes and wound cleaning. Mercy came out of all this with burn contractures. This made it difficult for her to walk or wear any shoes.

Mercy is now at CURE Kenya for burn contracture release. Her mum didn’t want to bring her to the hospital for the longest time because she was afraid that her daughter would be in pain again. But, every time she would go to the hospital the nurses would ask her to find medical intervention for her daughter. Please pray for this treatment process that Mercy and her mum have begun!

Dear sweet Mercy is struggling with an infection. When the time came for her pins to be removed, there were tears. In fact, her sweet mama even seemed sad about it. We love how kind she is. Now Mercy will need to have daily dressing changes due to her wound, receive more medicine in a month, and see us next at the end of January. Please be praying for her infection to clear really soon! Our sweet lady did go home over the weekend and we'll catch her next at mobile clinic in just a few short weeks! Please pray that her and teddy will enjoy their weeks together as they wait for the next doctor visit!

Is there any better way to spend your morning than snoozing with your fluffy pink teddy bear that you were given yesterday? Mercy didn't think so! It's such a good way to pass the time too as you're waiting to go to the OR for a dressing change. If all goes well, our little lady should go home today or tomorrow. Please pray that this will happen so she can take teddy and introduce him to his new home! Photo of Mercy

Pastor Emmy gave Mercy a toothbrush this week, and this morning, she and Mama Mercy helped Mercy brush her teeth. “That is the tutorial for the day,” Emmy said when it was all over around the time Mercy went back to her coloring. Emmy did more than just give Mercy something to help her teeth be cleaner. She also learned about Mercy and her Jesus. Mama Mercy helped Emmy discover that Mercy respects Jesus and knows we are invited to love Him. Please pray that Mercy’s knowledge turns into more than just knowledge and gets a whole lot closer to her little heart! Photo of Mercy

“Mama Mercy said you were going to come take a picture after surgery,” somebody told us in the ward and so we went. We took the after photo and also photos of these two sweet things! Mercy is yet to feel like smiling — maybe she’s still not sure about the photos we’ve been taking, but her mom sweetly told us that we will be friends, so we’re hoping! Please pray for joy for Mercy and zero pain as she heals! Photo of Mercy

Do you see it? Do you see it? If you go look at Mercy’s before photo and this surgery shot, the transformation in her foot is wild and divine! What was once a foot that had limited mobility and couldn’t wear a sandal is now a foot that will be able flex, even the big toe Lord-willing! We’re praying that this step will give Mercy the hope she needs to know that her healing will continue AND more about that ‘who in her healing! Photo of Mercy

Mercy loves tickles and blanket hidings and her sweet smile will make her your friend in no time! When we took photos of her feet this morning though, she wasn’t so sure about this. We wondered if her feet make her feel less secure since they’re different than a lot of feet she’s seen. But the beautiful news in this is the fact that as we write this, one of her feet is finding healing and the other will find it soon too. Please pray that the impact for her will include more sweet smiles and also a greater knowledge of the ‘who’ in her healing (hint: it’s Jesus!). Photo of Mercy
