Divorce affects children no matter where they are from and Hesbon is a testimony of that. Divorce not only hurt him emotionally, but also left him with an absentee father. At the age of four Hesbon fell out of a tree while playing with other kids from the neighborhood. His older brother found him and rushed him to the hospital to get x-rays but was turned away because they did not have any money. Hesbon and his brother were just boys and were unsure what to do next, so they waited for their father to come home. Days passed before he arrived and Hesbon’s arm had already begun to heal on its own. Hesbon’s father took him to a nearby health facility to get a cast but no x-rays were taken.
Weeks later when the cast was removed, they found that Hesbon’s arm had grown back bent. His father however did not want to do anything more with his son’s arm. Word finally got to his mother, and as any good mother would do, she approached her ex-husband and pleaded for her child’s custody. It took a while but Hesbon found himself back in his mothers loving arms.
They visited our hospital and after being observed by our doctors, were assured that something could be done. We are now hoping, praying, and longing for June, when Hesbon will go through his corrective procedure.
It was mixed emotions as Hesbon was finally discharged from our clinics. Mixed in the sense that we were happy to know that his treatment was done, but sad that we are not sure if we will ever see him again. We thank God for having crossed our paths and beyond that we pray that what we were able to do has changed his life.
Hesbon was missing at the clinic today, but i talked to his mother and she assured me that he is doing well, and was actually at school today. She was not feeling well, that is why she was unable to bring him to hospital for his check up, but she will make a point of bringing him by in June if nothing gets in the way.
Hesbon's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 03/27/2013
Hesbon's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 10/24/2012 - I enjoyed my time with Hesbon earlier today. He braved all the processes that he needed to go through. The pins that had been placed on his elbow are now out and all his mother is required to do now is to enroll him for physiotherapy sessions. Let us be praying for him.

Hesbon is receiving treatment at CURE Kenya
Hesbon's surgery was pretty intense, doctors took out a piece of bone from the humerus and put in a pin that will help the bone grow back straight. The pin will need to be taken out in four weeks! Continue to pray for Hesbon as he recovers in the ward this week! http://bit.ly/LfCfNl
