“I want to be a teacher when I grow-up!” proclaims Tsehay.

Tsehay and her father Wale have come to CURE Ethiopia for the burns on Tsehay’s neck. One day, when Tsehay was just five years old, she was playing with her siblings in the house. In her excitement she tripped and fell into the fire. Her parents rushed her to the nearest hospital, but the treatment she got did not heal her neck completely. Her skin healed in a way where there are strands of melted skin pining her chin down into her chest. “I thought it was all healed at the time, but once the wound healed the contracture starts and gotten worse over time”. Wale, Tsehay’s father shared with us and continues, “I could not afford to take her to any other hospitals but I finally found CURE and it is a blessing for us."

Tsehay lives with her parents and five siblings. She has three sisters and two brothers. Her parents are farmers and they are thankful to have found a place that would give them all the help Tsehay needs. Tsehay is in the eighth grade and her favorite subject is math. Concerning her neck, Tsehay tells us “It is so itchy all the time and it is so difficult to move my neck.” She continues, “I hope everything changes so that I could move my neck in any direction." A simple movement that most of us do hundreds of times every day and take completely for granted.

Join us welcoming Tsehay while she starts her healing journey!

Please keep her in your prayers that this doesn't take too long. Photo of Tsehay
